Chapter 1- A lost battle
"Damn!" Tenten swore, throwing another kunai at a Sound Ninja. The ninja ducked easily, swerving her body in an arch. Tenten could see more of them over a hill, at least fifty.
"Neji!!" she yelled to a brown haired boy with silver eyes, who was fighting two ninjas at once. "There's just too many!!" A flash of movement caught her eye, and she turned just in time to fend off a slash from the Sound Ninja's kunai knife. We're never gonna make it out of here alive!! she thought despairingly.
"NEJI!!" she yelled again, narrowly missing another blow. "We've got to get out of here!! We're gonna be killed!!"
Neji turned around to face her still fending off the two ninjas. His eyes widened as he saw the rushing Sound Ninjas, who were now nearly upon them.
"NARUTO!!" he shouted to a blonde haired boy who was fighting a whole group of Sound Ninja s with Shadow Clones. "We must retreat!!"
Naruto managed to glance at Neji, a fierce expression on his face.
"I'd rather die here than let them think me a coward!!" he snarled. Suddenly he pointed to Tenten. "TENTEN!!" he screamed. "Behind you!!"
Tenten whirled around, just as Neji did. He saw the female Sound Ninja, he saw her throw the knife, he saw….
Tenten gasped and fell to her knees, her kunai slipping from her limp hand. The Sound Ninja stood over her with another kunai in hand, aimed at her heart. Tenten looked up at her, her breathing coming in shallow gasps. The first kunai had hit her square in the back.
The Sound Ninja smirked triumphantly, raising the kunai for the blow.
I'm…I'm going to die…Tenten thought weakly, closing her eyes. She tried moving, but her chakra and energy were nearly spent. She smiled and coughed violently, hacking up blood. The Sound Ninja struck.
"NO!!" Neji screamed, running towards them, but he knew he wouldn't reach her in time...
