I thought of this after reading some spoilers for this summer, i don't know whats happening yet but this is my theory. Enjoy the piece x

Ethan sat by Alicia's bedside. It was silent apart from the beep of the monitor, that seemed to echo around the room. Hours prior, Alicia had been in the ambulance that flipped over, skidding on its side and hitting a tanker on the opposite side of the carriage-way. Causing a huge explosion.

Eddie had died, Sam was in critical condition - Ruby was trying to keep it together (her autism made that hard) and Iain just didn't know what to do. He just wandered around the ED aimlessly, trying to hold back tears.

Ethan had started to talk to Alicia like she was awake.

'You pull a stunt like that again, and were going to have a falling out young lady' He joked trying to hold back his real emotions.

'When you get better, we can try again if you want, but this time, I'll treat like a princess - I love you so much and I never want to let you go again' Ethan whispered 'it's too painful' He sniffed lightly as his eyes began to fill.

'You can even have this...'

He turned to reach into his pocket pulling out a small box. He placed it under her nimble hand (Being careful of her IV) before going to walk out of the room.

Alicia woke up in the middle of the night, remembering where she was and letting out a small sigh. She felt something underneath her left hand, wincing in pain as she leaned forward to retrieve it. In her hand was a small black box, she slowly opened the lid to find a ring. The diamond was bigger than she'd ever seen before. The lights on the ceiling reflected off it, making the almost rock sized diamond sparkle.

She felt her eyes sting with tears as she tried the ring on. It fit perfectly on her small finger that Ethan always used to poke fun at in a joking sort of way.

Somehow she knew it was from him.

She immediately got out of bed even though she wasn't supposed to, putting her pink dressing gown on over her hospital one 'well my legs aren't broken so why can't I walk' Alicia thought to herself. She had to find Ethan. Carefully stepping down the stairs barefoot, leading to the ED, holding onto the railing as she did so.

The young doctor was determined, she got half way down the flight of stairs, that seemed to go on forever before she was spotted by Charlie and Duffy of all people.

'Alicia what on earth are you doing?' said Charlie with a sympathetic voice as Duffy grabbed one of her arms for support. 'Lets get you back into bed' said the male nurse

Alicia put mental breaks on and crossed her arms.

'No!' She dictated like a child.

She broke free from Duffy and carried on down the stairs, leaving the two older nurses to just look at each other in disbelief.

'If you tell me where you are going I can help you!!!' Duffy said in a worried voice, running after her.

'I've got to find Ethan!' Alicia yelped.

'We can get him to come and see you!' Charlie spoke from behind Duffy.

'You don't understand' the blonde doctor sighed

Then she saw him walk past. She suddenly got the strength to walk down the stairs quicker. She caught up to him and got his attention with a tap on the shoulder. Ethan turned around and got the shock of his life seeing Alicia standing in front of him.

'What the hell is this!' she almost screeched showing him the ring, causing several members of staff and patients to look at them - 'is this proposal?' Alicia asked.

Ethan smiled shyly before nodding.

Alicia looked at him 'Its a no'

Ethan suddenly felt a wave of disappointment overcome him. he just simply looked at the floor.

' - until you get on one knee and propose properly...'
