I wake up knowing I won't remember

Your smiles and jokes will fade

Blur together into a mural

Of past friendship.

I wake up knowing you

And live while I forget

Your petty laugh and distant gaze

Blur together into a mural

Of past regrets.

I wake up knowing us

Our fate and mutual dreams

Blur together into a mural of past hopes.

Each step through life

Takes me farther from

The memory of our shared pain

Maybe I should run

Take faster steps

In the hope to forget

I wake up wanting to forget

Our friendship regrets and hopes.

I sleep dreading my dreams

Memories and wishes replaying nonstop

I sleep dreading the loss of conscious

In the darkness everything is more real

Unbearable

I spend the day getting my fill of you

Only to have it seep out during the night

I wake up

I sleep

I miss you
