Ravenclaw.

Ron looked down at the letter, but the words hadn't changed. Dear Mom and Dad, it said. I'm having a great time at Hogwarts, it said. I thought sorting was going to be scary, but it wasn't at all! I'm a Ravenclaw, just like Luna and Aunt Penny… He let the letter slip through his hands and fall to the ground, and he sank heavily into his chair. His daughter, his little Rosie not a Gryffindor?

There must be some mistake. He would fly to Hogwarts, that's what he would do. He would take it up with Headmaster McGonagall, because surely there was some mistake. Surely no Weasley could be anything but a Gryffindor.

"Ron? What is it, Ron?" Hermione bustled into the room, already dressed and ready to head off to the ministry. She registered his shocked expression, and then followed his gaze to the letter lying on the floor. She gasped. "A letter? What's happened? Is Rose hurt?" She swooped down and grabbed the letter. Her expression softened as she read the first few lines. "Oh, Ron."

"How can she be a Ravenclaw, 'Mione? I was so sure…"

"I know you were, Ron." Hermione put her arm around him. "But Ravenclaw isn't bad! We always knew she was a smart one. The sorting hat knows what it's doing."

"But everyone's been a Gryffindor! Teddy, James, Dominique, Fred…"

"Not everyone. What about Victoire? Or Molly? Look, Ron. I don't want Rosie to hear anything but praise for Ravenclaw from you. You got that?" He looked up at Hermione, obviously wanting to protest, but he backed down after seeing her expression.

"Yes, all right, fine." He grumbled. "I just hope Hugo gets into Gryffindor."

"Ronald Bilius Weasley! It wouldn't matter if Hugo was sorted into Slytherin! He's still your son, and you will treat him accordingly. Now, I am going to go to work, and when I get back, I want you to have sent our Rosie a nice long letter congratulating her on being sorted into the best house for her." Ron opened and closed his mouth a couple times, but he nodded. And as Hermione stalked out the door, letter still clamped in her fist, she counted her lucky stars that Ron hadn't got the chance to finish reading the letter.

Dear Mom and Dad. I'm having a great time at Hogwarts. I thought sorting was going to be scary, but it wasn't at all! I'm a Ravenclaw, just like Luna and Aunt Penny. I know you wanted me to be in Gryffindor, and I know most of the family is in Gryffindor, but I know I'll have friends here in Ravenclaw too. I met a really nice boy named Scorpius Malfoy. I know what you said about his dad, but he's really funny, and I know we're going to be best of friends! Give Hugo a hug for me, and tell him that if he goes into my room I'll kill him. Lots of love and hugs!

Rose Weasley
