Title: Labor Day
Author: Zavier
Genre: Short that has nothing to do with anything. This was one of the choices for our challenge on a group. Sadly it did not win the vote but the muse had to have it. I hope you like it.
Rating: Mature due to some mild language.
Disclaimer: I am just having fun. I am not making the big bucks like JE and I thank her kindly for letting me muck around with her creation.
Labor Day
"Shit. It looks like he is going out again."
"Hal, Call ahead and tell them situation."
"Binkie, Keep you eyes on the road damn it. We don't need to be in an accident right now."
"Lester, Quit Laughing! And give me that damn camera. You know he is going go kill you tomorrow."
"Bobby, where the hell did you put the smelling salts?"
The big black SUV rocked into the hospital parking lot at full speed. Six burly men came barreling out of it. To those observing it almost looked like over sized clowns scrambling out of a car at the circus or a SWAT team in various stages of distress. Either way it was a sight to behold, one no one would soon forget.
They all seemed to be focused on the biggest man of all. He seemed to be in a state of shock, maybe they were bringing him in for testing. They escorted him into the building. A woman who looked like Betty Boop met them by the elevators. She spoke with dramatic hand gestures and they all quickly got into the elevator going up. Sure hope the cable can handle all that weight they crammed in there.
The elevator stopped on the fourth floor, the maternity ward. They all got off on this floor. Two of the six men immediately took up "guard" position on either side of the ward door. Where they could easily monitor the elevator, hall way and the stair well, the rest helped with the large man that now looked like he needed help standing.
A hush fell across the waiting room as if everyone could sense that something important was about to happen. The ward doors flung open, and a woman full of life and energy rushed out. She had a head full of brown curls, bright sky blue eyes and a classic Jersey attitude. Taking a survey of the situation she quickly got things moving again.
"Tank, What are you doing standing around? Get your butt in gear man. LULA NEEDS YOU! For a man who has stared death in the face more times than I can count, and that just in my living room. Don't you dare stand there and tell me you have turned yellow bellied by the fact that the woman you love is in LABOR." With a deep breath and a stern look she continued bellowing. "SOLIDER! YOU LISTEN TO ME. MOVE YOUR ASS NOW. MARCH INTO THAT ROOM, HOLD LULA'S HAND, WIPE HER BROW, DO WHAT EVER IT IS THAT SHE NEED YOU TO DO. BE THE SUPPORT THAT LULA NEEDS AND YOU BETTER MAKE DAMN SURE TO MAKE THIS TEAM PROUD. DO YOU HEAR ME? I SAID DO YOU HEAR ME?"
"Yes, SIR, Ma'am."
"MOVE SOLIDER."
With a salute that the big man went through the ward doors, the woman just stood with her eyes closed for a moment. She opened them to find a 2000 watt smile, "Proud of Babe."
