This isn't really from any story, unless I have some kind of life story I don't know about...

Enjoy it anyway?

From a baby bluebird

"Ugh!" I complained as I pushed the ceiling up. I'd been in this small, dark egg for too long now! "Let me out! Let me out!" I yelled. Slowly the ceiling began to crack, and it became easier to lift it. I planted my feet firmly on the floor and broke out. Looking around a bit I saw I was in a little nest made of various sticks and twigs which mostly made a circle shape. Most of the surface of the nest was coated in sky blue feathers and a few eggshells which were also blue. Looking up I couldn't see anything but a strong light that nearly blinded me, I didn't know it was this bright out here!

"Brother! Brother!" I heard repeatedly. I turned my head to see 3 other baby birds, just like me, with blue feathers and tiny feet. "Our brother is here!" They chanted excitedly as their wings flapped in a kind of jumping dance. I danced with them, and I noticed how friendly my small family was, but I wondered where is my mother?

As soon as that question came to mind, I saw a shadow in the sky. My siblings all smiled, "Mother is coming!" they shouted. As Mother got closer I went to the edge of the nest to greet her.

At that moment, I noticed how far up the nest was! It seemed as though if I were to fall I would never make it to the ground, I would simply fall for ages and ages. And not just a smooth fall, either! Branches below would pelt me every inch on the way down!

Frightened by this thought, I cowered into the middle of the nest where my siblings were huddled together. "Don't let me fall!" I begged them.

"Fall?" They all asked at once. "Fall from where?" They went to the edge to see what I was talking about, and as they did so fear crossed all their faces. They ran into the middle with me, shaking and whimpering. "I don't want to fall!" I heard one say. Mother was coming closer now and I saw that she was blue just as we were, but she was much bigger.

"What is wrong, children?" Mother asked as she glided into our nest. "Why are you scared?"

"Mother we do not want to fall!" We chanted.

"Children, you shall not fall," she said soothingly. "As long as I am here to protect you, I won't let anyone be harmed. I love my children too much to let anything dangerous happen to you! Even if one of you were to fall out of this nest I would be right below to catch you. You are never to worry about any such dangers coming along."

That was exactly when I knew that the big sky blue bird in front of me really cared. That was when I felt truly safe, more so than I would be if I were the ground, never moving, always still and unharmed. My mother would always be there for me, I'd never have to worry about falling down, down, down through the branches below. I would be safe in this nest. This circular, feather-coated, woodsy nest up near the sky.
