- Under Death's Wing -

How cold the ground, how hard the stone

No friends around ; I'm all alone

How sweet the air of every breath

A warrior's dream my noble death

*

There is no glory, beauty none

To lay here broken in the sun

To watch as birds above the plain

Prepare to feast on my remains

*

To try and raise my sword again

And fight until the very end

As will commands to flesh and bone

And steel feels heavier than stone

*

The day grows dark, my dying eyes

Abandon me through my demise

I will not see what's left of me

My pride thus spared in agony

*

Though I know I have lost this fight

The shadow looms in all its might

Above me shattered on the ground

Its weapon raised to strike me down

*

There is no pity in his gaze

As cold and grim as icy maze

Of Helcaraxë that I've crossed

Chasing shadows, betrayed and lost

*

O Fëanor, my brother dear

To you I come in pain and fear

I failed to follow you before

But now we'll parted be no more

*

How I regret you could not see

The brother's love I had in me

So fearless, flaming in your wrath

You burnt our family in your path

*

But how is one to choose between

The different degrees of kin

Between the love of lord and wife

And of an older brother's life ?

*

And torn forever, sad and shamed

I chose the voice of blood defamed

My naked blade at your command

To slay our people on our land

*

Your fate was sealed, a bitter oath

And tears unnumbered for us both

But now you rest, so long since dead

Unreachable to joy or dread

*

O Fëanor, o brother dear

I cannot see, I cannot hear

Morgoth has dealt his final blow

Are you beside me, do you know

*

Is there a heaven for the cursed

The lost, the traitors, the dispersed,

For eyes that turned away from light

And full of the Kinslaying's sight ?

*

Is there a hope, is there a rest

For all the wills thus put to test

I come undone, and I shall bow

To what has bought your fateful vow.
