"It's not just this necklace. This village is Grandfather's treasure. I have to protect it. Because becoming Hokage is my dream"

"I love my village and my comrades, that's why I want to protect them. To protect everyone, because becoming Hokage is my dream,"

That's what they had said, that was their dreams, but war took both of them. They both left me behind and the only thing I had left of them was that necklace.

"You shouldn't see the body," Jiraiya said solemnly, placing his hand on my shoulder.

"Let her, she wouldn't be able to tell that's her little brother by looking at it," Orochimaru replied, I froze.

"Cut it out Orochimaru," Jiraiya snapped angrily.

"We're at war right now, after all…" Orochimaru replied nonchalantly, "Ninjas all turn out like this, since there are no doctors on the battlefield, but it's sure easy to make children happy," He reached into his robe ," Especially the day after they get a present," He released his grip and the necklace hung loosely on his fingers.

Nawaki was buried, his tombstone right besides many others who had died. I tipped the sake cup into my mouth, eyes scanning the paperwork right in front of me, but unable to concentrate.

"It's not a ninja's job to fight and lose his important people." Dan said quietly as the wind brushes past us.

"Yes," that was the only thing I could say.

"Because we live in a ninja's world, where death lingers around us, I want to use my life to bring to an end to this era of war," Dan said, a longing in his eyes, "I love this village and my fellow villagers. That's why I want to protect them."

I close my eyes, letting the sake to wash everything away.

"I… can't bear to…die in this kind of place," Dan whispered hoarsely, life being to leave his eyes.

"It's alright now. I've stopped the bleeding," I lied, to Dan and to myself, "Everything is going to be fine! You'll be fine Dan!" You have to be, you can't die…

"I see… I'm glad…"He trailed off, his eyes closing.

"Dan! Hang in there! Dan!" No, don't do this. No, you can't do this to me. Please Dan, don't, don't leave me alone. Don't die, Dan.

His eyes closed.

"Dammit, why won't it stop bleeding? Stop! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!" I screamed desperately. Not you too Dan, please don't leave me like Nawaki.

"It's useless, he's already dead," I looked at Dan; his expression was relieved and peaceful. If you wiped away the blood, he looked like he was just asleep and could wake up any second. No, no, no! Dan is… I brought my bloodstained hands close to my face. I did the only thing I could do,

I screamed.

I want to see them again, just once more I want to touch them, just one more time I want to see their smiles. I loved them. I really loved them, so I wanted to see them and hug them, but right now, there's a kid with the same dreams you once had. He's name is

Uzumaki Naruto.
