Nightmares
"Lieutenant!!" as he shouted, the powerless body of Riza Hawkeye fell ever so slowly on the cold ground. A crimson pool quickly formed around her head.
"Lieutenant! Answer me!!" But the Colonel received no answer from his most trusted lieutenant.
He struggled against the strong arms that were holding him down. He managed to break free. Without wasting a moment more, he clambered toward her.
"Lieutenant!!" he called her again. Gently, he placed her head on his lap. He covered her deep gash with his palm, trying to stop the blood from flowing out. His military outfit was soaked in her blood.
"Riza!! Please, answer me!" still, her body remained lifeless. Tears started forming inside his eyes.
He shook her body, calling her name at the same time.
"Don't you try to disobey me now!" No matter what he said, his Lieutenant didn't answer.
"RIZA!!!" he shouted before burying his tearful face on her abdomen. "Don't die!" he whispered.
Silence seemed to overtake the world around him.
"Roy..." her voice made his heart skipped a beat. Was it an illusion?
"Roy," he heard her again. He opened his eyes.
Riza was looking at him; a worried expression on her face. Not pain, but worried. And she looked fine with not a single drop of blood on her clothes.
Her hand stroked his hair few times.
"Are you having nightmare again?" she asked.
Her words made him realised that it was a dream. He nodded. Out of blue, he hugged her, tightly. "You won't leave me, will you?" he whispered to her ear.
"Of course not." She caressed his back, gently and filled with love. "Now, let's get back to sleep, hmm? You're going to have a long day in few hours more."
Roy nodded as he laid his back on the soft but firm mattress. The images from his nightmare were still playing in his mind. Disturbing him from falling asleep.
"You need to sleep," once again, her hand stroked his dark-raven hair.
"I love you Riza Hawkeye," he said out loud. He heard her chuckled, so he turned to her.
"It's Riza Mustang, silly," she said as she swept the tears stained on his face. "And you'll wake them up," she continued. Her eyes gazed felt on a pair of twins, sleeping on her other side.
Roy managed a smile; looking at their two bundles of joy. He gave each of them a kiss. Then, another kiss for the mother and laid beside her.
"Now, get some sleep" Riza whispered. He nodded slightly. He took her hands into his and closed his eyes. He knew it was only a nightmare, but it was real. He'd spotted the long scar across the neck.
"It was only a nightmare," he whispered again before fell asleep beside his Riza. Safe and sound beside him.
