"Oh no." Exclaimed Sirius, a long brown haired young man with a faint beard, as he stopped his friend from turning the corner. "What? WHAT?! Oh. Is it Yaxely?! He beat me up so bad last week!" His friend, Remus, a young, scraggly blonde haired man, shrieked as he dived behind a suit of armor for protection. "Bloody hell, NO!" Sirius whispered pulling Remus out from behind his refuge. "James and Lily are at it AGAIN."
"Wow," said Remus shaking his head as he gazed at the scene. "It makes a man wonder if she has any more spit left in her mouth." They attempted to fight back the laughter. It didn't last long. Soon they couldn't bear it. First came a snort from Sirius a loud "GAFAH!" from Remus. Long story short, James pretty much beat the hell out of them. After that somewhat sudden event, the two friends limped up to the Hospital wing still laughing. "Ha! Too bad Snivellus-oww-wasn't there to-ow-see THAT!" Remus said happily, wincing at the particular pain in his leg. "Yeah! James would be right along side us now if that'd been the case!"
Little did THEY know that he HAD been watching. He WAS there. James WOULDVE been there along side him but, Severus didn't want to make Lily unhappy.

Severus sank down on a near by bench and laid his head in his hands. A sudden sharp pain on his right arm caused him to look up. It came again. "Arggh." He gasped quietly. He rolled up his long black sleeve to reveal the tattooed skull and snake glistening in the pale torch light. Another shot of pain. "Arrgh!" he gasped again. He closed his eyes, wishing he hadn't chosen this. He didn't want to return to his Master.
"Sev? Sev?!" came a sweet, worried and familiar voice.
"What-oh. Lily. I-" he started, looking up into her radiant face.
"Are-are you okay?" she asked gazing down at him.
"I-I-I'm fine." He stuttered, clutching his arm in pain.
"Here, Sev," said Lily sitting down beside him, "let me look at your arm."
"No. NO! Really. I-I'm fine."
"Oh, I insist! There's something wrong."
She pushed back his sleeve to reveal what Severus Snape had been dreading.
"No. No! SEV!! No!! What were you thinking?! You couldn't-NO!!" she screamed, mouth gaping at Mark. She took off down the long hallway, tears flooding her eyes.
"Lily! Please! Come back!" Severus yelled after her.
He sank back down to the bench. His thoughts were wielding.
'You're nothing,' Said the voice, 'nothing but a deatheater. A Slytherin. You know no love. You have no future.'
'B-but I do! I love her!' he retorted.
'But she does not love you in return. You can't win Severus Snape. You can't win.'
He knew it was true. Potter had her. He had no future. It was ruined. He was a deatheater. He didn't want to be.
He had made his decision. He placed his fore finger on the Mark as the paint grew almost unbearable. He vanished.
