Darkness
The warmth of the sun,
Has long burned out.
The shining of the moon,
Is no longer here.
The sparkling eyes,
Of the ever-watchful stars,
Have closed in eternal sleep.
Sorrow lays it heavy hand,
Like a shadow above us.
Pain's mocking smile,
Holds us in its spell.
For evil wanders on its silent feet.
Darkness rules our kingdom, Life.
Once long ago,
The green grasses swayed.
The Shire was peaceful,
The land unchanged.
But darkness approached,
With its cold hands reaching,
To destroy the land,
And consume it without mercy.
