In the 7th grade Claire was asked to write a report about her best friend. This was her report.

My Best Friend
My best friend's name is Quil. I have known him since I was two years old. He is older than me, but we have always been best friends. He is always nice to me and he always takes me to fun places. I see him every day because he comes to my house to stay with me while my mom is at work. We always have a lot of fun.
Every year on Christmas Eve, Quil takes me to the Christmas tree farm and lets me pick out a tree for my house. Then we go home and decorate it with my mom and my brother. One year he stayed the night because he said he wanted to give me my present as soon as he could. The next morning I woke up and he gave me my present as soon as I finished my pancakes and hot chocolate. It was a necklace with a little brown wolf hanging off of it and picture of him and I from when I was five years old. The present meant a lot to me, and I wear the necklace everyday and the picture is hung up in my room.
Once a month we have a town day. Quil calls it a town day because we do all of the fun things that we can do in the town in one day. We go to the park and have a picnic, and then we go see a movie. The movie is my favorite part because he always lets me pick which one we see. He also lets me get my own bag of popcorn, but when I go with my mom and brother, my mom makes my brother and I share one. I never finish the whole bag though. After the movie he takes me to the mall to get ice cream and then we go back to the park to play Frisbee and tag. We stay at the park for a really long time, and then we go out to dinner at whatever restaurant I want. After that we go home and I fall asleep really quickly because by then I'm really tired. And then everything is normal for another month until we have a town day again.
On normal days Quil will pick me up after school and we go to my house. He always makes me do my homework before any thing else, but sometimes he helps me if I need it. Then we watch movies until mom comes home, and Quil says goodnight and goes to his house. The whole time my brother stays in his room playing video games, but I would rather watch movies with Quil.
Quil is my best friend because we have fun together and I can tell him anything. I have known him for so long it's like he's my big brother.
