The Succulent Pokemon Quest
0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 I sat inside my room. Mom had grounded me once again for no reason. She loved my twin brother, Rodney better than me. So she always grounded me so that she could spend more time spoiling him while I lay alone.
Dad would always tell Mom "Don't play favorites." She'd always pretend to do so. Next thing I knew I'd be locked up in my room again. I flopped onto my "bed", staring at the ceiling. Soon I would be called to dinner, eat a tiny portion of the food, and then be sent back to my room.
How could a fourth grader like me bear this??? I'd never find out.
I sat up and looked around the room. It was pretty bare. There was no wallpaper, only white paint. My "bed" was just an old, worn out mattress on the floor with a thin sheet and no pillow.
I searched under my mattress and pulled out my GBC. It was a hand-me-down from Rodney. The only game I had was Silver Version from Pokemon.
I turned it on and started to play.
I'd only been playing for two minutes when Mom shouted in a hoarse voice "C'mon Jerry!!! Dinner's ready!!!!"
I flicked my game off and waited at the door for Mom to unlock it. When she finally did I leaped out of the cramped room, and towards the kitchen.
I sat at the table and watched as Rodney stared at me like I wasn't a human being. I glared at him and waited patiently for Mom to serve me a pitiful dinner. That's how it was every night.
Mom came over to the table with a big pot in her arms. She started to serve Rodney large spoonfuls of spaghetti onto his plate.
She turned to me and put a small spoonful on my plate. Then she gave herself a few big helpings and sat down. "Go ahead Rodney, honey. Take your time." She sweetly said to him. Then she turned to me and barked "HURRY UP AND EAT SLOWPOKE!!!!"
I quickly gobbled down my spaghetti and wiped my mouth on the back of my wrist since I hadn't been provided with a napkin. I stuck my tongue out at Rodney and dashed out of the room.
I ran as fast as I could to get back to my room. When I dove in, Mom locked the door behind me.
I sat on the carpet, out of breath. I went back to playing Silver. I'd only had the game since yesterday so I wasn't familiar with it.
I had started again when my stomach grumbling interrupted me. I reached under my mattress for that bag of potato chips I'd put there. I pulled it out and took a handful of chips.
I looked in and saw a glowing potato chip inside!!!!!
I picked it up and it was glistening like gold.
I popped it into my mouth. It tasted like any other potato chip! Salty, crunchy, and other possible adjectives!!!
I continued playing when Mom was banging at the door.
"Jerry!!! Get your big ~BEEP~ out of there so you can get ready for bed!!!!!!!"
I sighed and turned my game off. Mom's dirty language might rub off on Rodney some day, not that I care.
"I wish my life was like a Pokemon life." I mumbled and I slowly started to leave the room.
All of a sudden, I felt a tingling sensation inside my body. I looked down and my body was glowing just like the potato chip!!!
I turned around. My GBC was glowing too!!!!
