My name is Luke Castellan. I'm a nineteen year old demigod. You don't know what that is? Oh well pretty much a demigod is a child of a mortal, a normal human, and one of the Greek gods or goddesses. Yeah, Greek mythology is real and is still alive. It's in America in fact. See, the gods followed where the heart of western civilization is, so now they are in America. Mount Olympus is on the 600th floor of the Empire State Building in New York City. My dad is Hermes, god of travelers, thieves, you get the gist. Now you may be thinking that having a Greek god as a parent sounds like this great thing but it's not, in fact I had a grudge on them for a long time.
The gods suck as parents. They ignore you, don't visit you, use you, it isn't something enjoyable in the slightest. Demigods are pawns to the gods, they don't care about us. Look at history, Zeus will have a child with some mortal and who gets the punishment from Hera? The demigod and the mortal lover. Also you want their attention and if they give you a quest it's something lame like taking the golden apples of immortality from the garden of the Hesperides, talk about original and all I get from it is an ugly scar. So that is why I joined Kronos, to be free from being the Olympian gods' pawn.
They have ignored us demigods as their children.
They have us demigods do quests for them.
They ignore us when our mortal parent has gone insane.
They don't claim their children.
They don't recognize the children of minor gods.
They kill each other's children.
They turn their children into trees.
Because of them we have ridiculous prophecies spoken by Apollos oracle.
Because of their blood in our veins, monsters come after us.
Because of them, our lives are filled with the struggle just to survive.
Now I know what you're thinking, go against the gods? Are you insane? Why would you join Kronos? He ate his own kids, which is way worse. But the thing is, Kronos has still offered me more than my own father has. My father only gave me a quest Heracles has done. Kronos had me steal Zeus' master bolt and Hades' helm of darkness which is way more original.
That is why I, Luke Castellan, declare independence from the Olympian gods. Independence from being their pawn, so that I can be free.
