In this timeline, we skip forward 14 years, the Vongola passed to the next generation, the Decimo and his loyal guardians, the Arcobaleno, freed from their curse, now, all 16 years of age; and reigning further terror over the smaller world they inhabit. Specifically, Reborn towards his student, now he has a functioning body.
But those few aren't the centre of this story. No, this is about a martial artist; finding himself in impossible circumstances and even being grateful for them.
Said man was currently living in his relative's, Hibari's, house; since the homeowner was staying in Italy for the majority of the year. Besides that, the abode was large enough to house a family of 10, let alone two men. Fon was pretty glad he had the space to himself, he could practice and build up muscle without interruption, now that he was getting older again. It was a lonely existence, sure, but a pleasant one.
He had to get back into his old profession otherwise he'll never make a living... He will never resort to opening a dojo, all of the fake aspirations were suffocating.
He thought he would live out his teen years in peace, practicing alone.
Then, the council called. Having a teenage boy living alone and not in education? Unacceptable apparently, back in China that wasn't the case... although it has been a fair lot of years... Over 20 perhaps; he'd lost track after becoming a child.
And so, the poor man was forced into enrolling... Into Namimori no less.
Enrolling in his third year, the end of the year too, it's stupid and he'll probably be forgotten and left alone as quickly as the excitement lasts. How bothersome.
Now here he stood in a school uniform, instead of his usual red garb, dressed like an actual teenager, which in fact he mentally wasn't. It was cold, with Autumn reaching it's end and Winter creeping up on him, it was almost the final term and yet he still had to attend? A middle school no less, wasn't he a highschooler by now?
With an internal conflict, he absent mindedly took his prepared seat and thought to himself...
School was such a wench in his plans to train, he only had the short time after school ended and then the measly two days at the weekend... Maybe he'll just skip a couple days of the week. For one so calm and collected, he sure had some rebellious thoughts.
A tap on his shoulder had him tense and brought his attention back from the deep layers of his adult mind- that, mind you, had all the knowledge of whatever was being taught already.
He turned to the perpetrator and stared blankly at her orangey pink hues, shadowed by the deep chocolate locks falling in a neatly cut fringe, her ears covered by the same colour, her hair just brushing against her shoulders. Her peach lips moved into a soft smile and her eyes closed in a friendly manner; she held out her hand and Fon unconsciously took it.
"My name's Akamatsu Yue." She whispered the glistening smile never leaving her features, her hair falling slightly in her face as she leaned forward a little more. Her grip on his hand never loosened, and he didn't find himself in any hurry to let go either.
"Fon." He replied bluntly, she then let go of his hand and tilted her head slightly in confusion, "Just Fon." He clarified, as if reading her mind.
"I see. A beautiful name." She grinned, turning back to her desk and finally paying attention to the on going class.
Although Fon could feel the stares of other girls behind and even in front of him, he was only looking at the girl beside him, she didn't seem to be into some one time romance like the rest, plus, she may actually be interested in him as a person, instead of the label of 'New student'.
He found himself becoming interested in her.
She could also sense the eyes of that boy beside her, she felt like she could get along with him, being a new student and all, but his constant stare was putting her off... 'Did he figure me out?'
Even as she worried, she approached him quickly as lunch came around, not wanting him to be quickly whisked away by those girls in her class, "Fon-san? Do you have lunch?"
He looked up at her with a thoughtful expression, even thought there was nothing to think about.
"No." A small, a miniscule upturn of his lips had Yue smiling herself, thankfully the man wasn't emotionless. But as the answer registered in her mind, she blanked for a moment before forcefully shoving her own bento in his hands and rushing off, leaving him with the words, Eat mine! I'll go buy some melon bread!.
Somewhat startled for a second, he was frozen in place before he turned and placed the blue box and cloth onto his desk, he was about to untie the lunch when he was bombarded with girls screaming about their own lunches and how he should eat theirs instead or something bothersome. Receiving lunch from a sincere and cute girl was better than a desperate one, so he kindly declined them all and began eating gratefully from the box he was given, being pleasantly surprised when the food tasted extremely delicious.
The girl returned shortly after he'd began eating and dragged a chair over to his desk where she'd placed her melon bread.
They ate silently, as was expected, but it wasn't that awkward, Yue found content in watching Fon enjoy her food and... Well Fon was enjoying the food.
He clapped his hands together and thanked her for the meal, although she wasn't going to let him off so easily, "You left the carrot and broccoli Fon-san! You'll never get strong if you don't eat properly!"
Normally he was the one lecturing others about strength, "I don't like them much, can't you just eat them? It was yours in the first place." He said, tossing the matter aside.
She took the chopsticks from his hand, so he thought she was going along with his suggestion, but then the sudden feeling of carrot being forced into his mouth spoke otherwise. "It's no longer my lunch Fon-san."
So, slightly embarrassed and unwillingly, she fed him the rest of the veggies before finishing her melon bread. He watched her eat with grace, as much grace as one could have when eating melon bread, but she wiped her mouth at every interval and she ate quietly with her mouth fixed shut. He could only question her lineage.
He showed up for the next week since it'd be sloppy if he skipped in the first week, and every day since then, that girl brought in an extra bento for him, as if she knew he wouldn't. The result of which became their 'friendship' although Fon felt bad as he was slightly deceiving this kindhearted student.
Although Yue was happy to finally have a friend, the others in the class weren't.
"Yue-chan~?" A light haired girl with long wavy hair called from the doorway during lunch, Fon looked at her unconcerned before turning back to his lunch, which still had vegetables in, while the called upon girl stiffened almost unnoticeably for the naked eye to catch, not Fon though.
She stood with a sigh and frown and followed the girl outside and into an empty bathroom where five other girls stood.
"How's your time with the new student? You whore." As expected, it was another verbal spat about a misunderstanding back in the first year.
"Fine." Yue answered curtly, not making eye contact with anything but the floor.
A foot kicked out and landed on the wall beside her, "What? Are you planning to woo him and then throw him to the curb like before?"
She didn't look up or flinch, "No."
The other girls surrounded her, one pulling her hair and some others her uniform, another her arm. "You think you're so perfect because you're rich and have a nice face!?" She spat, twisting the reason entirely. She grabbed Yue's fringe and crashed her own forehead into Yue's, "I bet he'll hate you after hearing all about you." She grinned sourly, letting go of Yue's fringe and ushering everyone out in a rush, not before landing a knee to Yue's groin, making her drop to the dirty floor in pain.
"W-Wait! Please!" She shouted but to no avail, they had already left for the classroom. She wondered why she was so against them telling him all the lies they'd made up, because he didn't know any better, he might not like her any more.
Her only friend now might avoid her too, might scorn her.
She stumbled out of the bathroom and into someone's arms, the warmth was appreciated, but startled, she peered up with teary eyes and found them meeting with sharp burgundy hues. She opened her mouth to speak but only a weak and pathetic 'Eh' sounding squeak came out.
"It seems you're quite hated in this school hm?" He asked bluntly, yet a teasing smile on his face, she couldn't hold back and broke out into a smile of her own yet her tears also fell fast and freely. She nodded with a feeble laugh in an attempt to brighten herself up. His free hand rose to her face and he gingerly wiped away the calming flow of water, making her shut her eyes as he did so. "Sorry to disappoint you but, I've learned not to trust words unless they're from the person themselves."
Hearing him speak only had her tears refill themselves and pour down once again, only this time she bundled his shirt in her hands and buried her head in his chest, hearing such words made her so unbelievably happy she couldn't describe it.
He was at first startled by her sudden movement, but later smiled down at her weeping figure and placed his hand on her hair, lightly and slowly stroking back the dark tresses.
After she'd calmed down a little, they took a small stroll to the rooftop where Yue sat ready to explain her circumstances, while skipping class.
"My family is actually a successful farming and produce company so I guess you could say I'm 'rich' but my parents are never around so it's just me in the giant house we have, it's really lonely and so being rich and stuff... Doesn't matter at all to me, it's not even my money in the first place, I still have to work to get money, I have a job at the library you see... My parents only pay for the bills, like they've forgotten about me. Well... It's fun sometimes, we have sheep... so..." She trailed off, talking about how she sometimes sleeps in the barn and all the work she has to do around the farm on top of the library, in other words she has no free time; she also mentioned a few workers that come everyday but don't make an effort to speak with her.
Fon just sat and listened to her tale quietly, he had a lot to say about himself but he wasn't planning on telling her, so being a quiet ear to tell all her troubles to, that's about all he'll be able to offer.
"Um... Then there's the whole reason why the class hates me... well... At first they were all friendly around me but I later found out it was because I was from a rich family, which I discovered as they badmouthed me behind my back... So even from then because they had the impression I was a spoiled rich girl, but then a boy asked me out in my first year, he was a second year at the time and was also dating that blonde girl you probably met," Fon nodded and she sighed, "Well I didn't know that... So I accepted thinking his feelings were real and I was interested in the notion of 'Love' at that time too... And yet again, in the end he just wanted my money and... other stuff. When the school found out I'd 'stolen' someone else's boyfriend from them, my reputation dropped to the bottom and tadah! Lonely me again." Fon was listening closely but a little less closely when she mentioned 'other stuff', his mind completely focused on that uttered statement, he was silently hoping she didn't mean what he thought.
"What do you mean by other stuff?" He went ahead and asked, she froze with a petrified gleam in her eyes and he immediately wanted to take back what he said.
"My... my.. bo-" She was close to tears as she recalled the memory but Fon quickly held up a hand to stop her from going any further, feeling pretty stupid for asking, "No... He didn't manage to do anything..." She smiled weakly, like a fragile china doll, "I'm actually stronger than I look!" She joked yet her voice cracked and her lips quivered. No wonder, she was more than likely violated in one way or another.
"Are you scared?"
"I am."
She whimpered, seeing no merit in lying.
"And you never tampered in love again?"
"No. There's no one I can trust that will love me entirely."
She lowered her head and frowned, watching little tiny puddles form on the paved roof.
"I see."
Fon began to feel a little strange, after seeing this girl pour her heart out completely and without hesitation in front of him, he began to notice things he'd never normally notice. The glisten of her tears on her long black eyelashes, the slight pink on her cheeks and the softness and plumpness of her peach lips, the round and cute nose she had and the way her eyebrows moved as she tried to smile at him. His hand moved forward and cupped her cheek, his thumb wiping away the dampness from the tears. She looked at him unguarded and pleadingly;
"Then, what can I do for you?" He muttered, feeling if he raised his voice any louder the moment would pass, the atmosphere would break.
"Don't leave me."
Gotta get in there while the iron's hot as they say. since I finished the manga and was debating seriously whether or not to write this instead of one with Mukuro or Hibari which btw where be all the Mukuro fics?
