Love in the Making

Chapter 1: Regret.

So here it is, a dedicated DekuMomo fic, I wrote it mostly cuz there weren't any around, I see potential in this pairing, and the premise of Izuku staying as class rep intrigued me.

I hope you enjoy.

Momo Yaoyorozu did not regret a lot of things in her life, That is to say until now. Now one regret has been pushed to the forefront of her brain, that being, the fact that she had not spent any real amount of time with people her age until she started at UA.

What led to this epiphany, was realizing that she had misjudged one of her classmates, one Izuku Midoriya.

He was one of three people in her new class at U.A that she had taken a disliking to, the others being Bakugo, for his foul language and temperament, and Mineta, for obvious reasons.

And though she was fairly certain she was still right about the other two, Midoriya was beginning to defy her low expectations, though she still held to the belief that her first impressions weren't exactly unreasonable.

When she first met the broccoli haired teen, he was the very definition of jittery, and she found herself agreeing with the sentiments of their teacher, he was not hero material.

He supposedly risked his life in the entrance exam, despite the fact that it was an exam. He broke his finger in the quirk apprehension test, despite the fact that the penalty for placing last was obviously a ruse (not to mention that he did end up placing last anyway). He performed poorly in their first hero vs villain scenario, and his quirk was impractical, to say the least as it injured him when used. In her eyes, he had basically no chance at becoming a hero.

Though only a couple of days after they met, she came under the sneaking suspicion that she was wrong.

The first hint was when he was elected as the class representative, and she, vice class rep, though the idea that her classmates' votes were well placed was dismissed as soon as she saw him shaking in fear at the very idea of it.

The second hint of worthiness, was when he himself, realized how unfit he was for the position, and graciously offered it to Iida.

Iida had ended up declining though, stating that it wouldn't feel right to take over when Midoriya had been the one to receive the most votes, Much to the freckle-faced teen's dismay. At that point, he offered to switch with Momo, to which, she had of course graciously agreed.

And now, when villains had attacked their class during a lesson at the USJ, Midoriya had shown people his heroic spirit once again.

According to Asui, he had saved both her and Mineta when they were whisked away to the shipwreck zone, he had then broken both his legs in a brutal showdown against the villains, in what Kirishima called "a manly display of heroism." And though he, sadly, still injured himself, at least this time it was warranted

Chances were that if she held on to her prejudices, she would be proven wrong once more, and so, she decided, that the best course of action would be getting to know her fellow class rep. After all, she had only known him for four days, and in that time, she had only expected the worst.

After the trouble at the USJ, the students were transported back to the school where the police were waiting for them in order to take their statements. It was around this time that everyone's parents started showing up too.

Not Momo's however, she didn't hold it against them of course. She knew that they were busy and that they would at least call her to make sure she was fine.

That did, however, give her the perfect opportunity to visit Midoriya in the infirmary. So she said goodbye to Jiro and Kaminari, thanked them for their help during the attack, and walked into U.A to get changed before meeting up with him.

When she reached the Infirmary she could hear an unfamiliar voice coming from inside. Not wanting to intrude she gave a knock on the door.

When she was called inside she was met with the sight of Midoriya, Recovery Girl, and two unfamiliar men. One, tall and scrawny, lying in the bed next to the boy. The other was a plain looking man, dressed in a trench coat and white gloves. She figured that he probably belonged to the police and was questioning Midoriya further.

Her appearing had turned the room dead silent, they had obviously not expected visitors, what with school having been canceled, the police being done with most of their questioning, and Midoriya being the only student to get injured. That situation gave way to a question that pressed into Momo's mind. "who, was the skeletal looking man next to Midoriya."

Her train of thought was interrupted though, by the voice of recovery girl speaking up, "Was there anything you needed dear."

"Oh, no… I was just looking to obtain Midoriya's phone number." Momo responded, snapping out of her inquisitive state. "I figured it might be useful, what with both of us being class reps, it's kind of weird how I didn't ask for it yesterday."

Izuku, who had so far just been staring, back and forth at her and the man next to him in an expression that bordered on both fear and wonderment. "O-of-course r-right," he said, realizing why she was here before another wave of stress hit him. "But see there i-is a p-problem with that, see I don't have my phone on me since I'm still in costume a-and and..."

Momo then walked over to Midoriya's bed and grabbed a pen and note from the nightstand next to him and started writing something down. "then I… will give you… my number." she said whilst writing and then handed the note to the boy. "and you, can message me later so that we can add each other to our contacts."

"S-sure" he responded, almost automatically, a million thoughts racing through his head. Most of them revolving around the fact that a girl had given him their number.

As she headed towards the door she turned and asked one last question. "do you have any plans for tomorrow… seeing as school is canceled and all."

Midoriya wanted to scream, both from the fact that a cute girl seemed to want to spend their time with him, and because she could see All Might in his true form, though thankfully she didn's seem to be making any connection to it. Besides screaming, or hiding behind All Might would only arouse suspicion so all that was left to do was to answer

"N-N-No o-of course not." His response was immediate. And though the fact that he was visibly shaking would normally just annoy her, the thought of an interpersonal gathering with someone her age exited her more than she could admit.

So with a radiant smile, she said. "Excellent, then I shall look forward to hearing from you later." she turned towards the rest of the people there. "I am sorry for having disturbed your conversation, farewell," she said, courtesying before taking her leave.

Once Momo had left the scrawny man spoke up. "Well well well young Midoriya, I never expected you to score a date with a classmate on the 4th day of school. Well done kid."

"A-All Might, it's not like that I'm sure she just wants to talk about s-school stuff." the broccoli boy cried out.

"Relax my boy I was only jesting, besides What school stuff, you have only been here for four days, you've barely gotten started.

At this point the detective, who had been silent since Yaoyorozu's arrival, spoke, effectively saving Izuku from continuing this line of inquiry. "Well, I need to get back to work, but don't worry, I will personally make sure this incident gets solved." The detective turned towards his old friend, "All Might, it's been a pleasure."

"Same to you Naomasa, same to you."

as the two acquaintances said their farewells. Izuku was left staring at the note the girl had given him, thinking "what if All Might was right."
