"You are my sunshine..."

Jinx could hear him singing, his voice soft and cracking in parts from not being completely awake. Her eyes were plastered shut and her breathing as even as she could make it, even when his fingers trailed over the bare skin of her stomach, pretending to still be asleep.

"My only sunshine..."

His hand stilled against her bloated midsection, pausing, and she wasn't sure if he could feel the slight movement in her womb like she could. Her breath hitched, more from surprise than pain, and she had to fight the smile that wanted to break her facade.

"You make me happy... when skies are gray." She felt the bed shift, and his lips met the side of her stomach. "And it's pretty gray out right now. I think it can't decide if it wants to snow or rain." He paused again, tilting his head so his ear and cheek rested against the curve. "Honestly, you make me happy even when it's blue out."

There were several beats of silence; Jinx could tell that Wally's voice had prompted her child awake, moving about and kicking. She couldn't contain the smile that had grown on her face, reaching her hand up and lacing it through the one on her stomach.

"How long you been awake, Jinx?"

"Long enough, Wally," she murmured, "Long enough."
