Daphne Moon was a goddess in Niles Crane's eyes. She was beautiful. Everything about her made his knees weaken and his heart race, her voice, her smile, and her scent of cherry bark and almonds, everything imaginable. He had been adoring her from afar for years. He always dreamt of hold her in his arms, kissing her, making love to her. He dreamt that he would one day be with her. She was always on his mind, there was no way to get her out of it. He could be driving, or he could be could be eating, or he could even be in the middle of a session, and there was Daphne. He loved her. It wasn't the love he was used to with Maris or with Mel. With them, love was comfortable, familiar, calm. Not with Daphne though. The he had for Daphne was like a blazing inferno. It was full of passion and desire. As much and as hard as he had tried, he couldn't deny his love for her. That was what he had admitted to her last night, not to long before she kissed him on the balcony. He thought that at last they would be together and that his dreams would finally come true. Then she said that she couldn't do it. She couldn't be with him. That she could break her promise to Donny and that he couldn't break his promise to Mel. His heart broke. He had never experienced hurt like this ever before in his life. Even though she was about to marry Donny and even though he was basically on his honeymoon with Mel, he knew that he would always have a place for her in his heart.
He thought it was officially over. That any chance he'd be with her was over. He did until he saw Daphne enter the door of the Winnebago and stood before him. She was the last person he was expecting when he heard a knock at the door. She was supposed to be getting married.
"Hello."
"Daphne…"
"I was wondering if you might be free for a date?"
He had longed to hear words like that from her. He could have cried but instead he ran to her and hugged her.
"Oh my God! Yes!"
"There's time for that later. Let's get this bloody boat moving!"
Just when he thought that all hope was gone, she came. She loved him. She wanted to be with him. He had never been happier. This was all he ever wanted since the day he laid eyes on her.
"Fasten your seat belt Daphne."
"Fasten yours Niles."
She looked at him with a look in her eyes that he had never seen before.
After he took a moment to take it all in, they were off. They were off to start a whole new chapter in both of their lives. A life together. They were both going to love each other until the end of time.
"I love you, Daphne."
"I love you too, Niles."
