"Lily," Snape breathed deep, and stared into Lily Even's brilliant green eyes.
"You're pathetic, Sev!" Lily spat back.
"I'd do anything for you, I'm sorry. Please!"
"Quit. Leave Voldemort."
"I...I...can't." Snape fumbled for the words and closed his eyes. Dreading what was going to happen next.
"Why not! Sev, you said you'd do anything!"
"He'd kill me, Lily."
"Then I'm sorry." Lily turned her back on Snape and and walked back down the corridor toward the Great Hall.
"Lily! Lily!" Snape shouted, and ran behind Lily, soon catching up to her. He pulled her wrist and forced her to face him.
Tear dribbled from the corners of Lily's eyes. Her botton lip trembled.
"I can't believe you, Sev." Lily's whisper was barley audible, She closed her eyes and more tears leaked down her pale cheeks.
Snape kept hold on Lily's wrist, and with his left hand brushed her gorgeous red hair out of her face. Her lip trembled again, and she shruddered as through she was just dipped in ice water.
"I love you, Lily." Snape's face was inches from Lily's. She opened her eyes. The green met the black and they both stared at each other.
"Why would you do it?" Lily closed her eyes again and shook her head as if trying to shake away what she heard. "Why do you like the Dark Arts? Why do you want to torture us Mudbloods, if you love one. That's not love, Severus. It's not!"
"Lily, don't call yourself that. Please."
"Oh! But that's what I am isn't it? Just a filthy Mudblood in your book, right, Sev? Right? You're all about blood-purity, when you're not even a Pure Blood. Neither is Voldemort."
"Don't say his name"
"Why not Severus? Scared of your master? Scared he might try and punish you if he knew you 'loved' a mudblood."
Snape let go of Lily. His face contorted with rage, and he slammed his fist into the stone wall to his left. Lily once again turned her back on Snape, and began walking towards the Great Hall. This time Snape didn't chase after her, he just stood there and watched her walk away. Watched as James Potter walked up behind her, and put his hand on Lily's waist.
Snape knew he had lost the only thing he truly ever had. He knew that she would never forgive him. Deep inside Snape knew that Lily would be happier in the end with James. That James is something Lily deserves. As he watched them disappear into the Great hall, he turned his back and began to walk down to the Slytherin Common Room.
"Always." He murmered, as tears began to slide down his hollow face, and drip onto his green and black robes.
