They both stood in a comfortable silence in the kitchen of the CBI drinking Jane's tea, both of them following their own train of thought.

Lisbon thought of how Jane had changed in the last few years. Last few months especially. Just minutes before he had asked her if she thought of him as an anti-social person, and a few years ago she might have pondered on that. But now she couldn't.

He had become a good coworker, partner. A friend. Okay, the working together part could still be trying, of course. But he really was a good friend. He'd saved her. More than once.

She felt her lips twitch into a little smile as she thought of the time they had been stuck in that shipping container and she had realized that he really tried to help her. That he cared for her.

Of course Jane noticed too. "What are you smiling at?"

"Oh, nothing" She said nonchalantly and looked back down into her cup of tea.

Jane didn't believe her of course, but he let her get away with it, letting his mind wander on its own. Then suddenly an idea struck him.

"That was a nice thing you did for that Willy guy."

She flushed a little "yeah, well. I really liked his music."

"Yeah, you did. " Jane studied her over the rim of his tea cup. He was always keen on getting to know her better. The real her, not just the kick-ass agent she was.

He noticed how her cheeks turned a slight shade of pink while he watched her intently.

"Stop it, Jane."

"Stop what?" he asked innocently.

Lisbon, however, didn't answer. She just stifled a yawn and took another sip of her tea. She really was tired. It had been a long day. And she was really looking forward to getting home, putting in that CD and drinking a nice glass of wine.

"The saxophone!"

"Huh?" Lisbon had been lost in her thoughts and literally jumped a little at Jane's exclamation.

"You played the saxophone." He said, not as a question, but a statement. "In high school. You were such a big fan of Willy and his music that you started playing the saxophone."

Again Lisbon felt her cheeks getting warmer. Of course he hadn't forgotten.

"Will you play for me?" Jane asked like a little boy excited about going to Disney World.

"What?"

"Play for me. Please" he said quietly, his eyes sparkling with joy that he had finally found out about her little secret.

"Jane, I really am tired. I'm going home now." She said without really answering his plea.

"Please. I'll drive you home; you can rest a little in the car. We'll drink a glass of wine, relax, and you can show off your skills."

"I'm not driving with you. That isn't restful at all."

"Meh. Remember the time you fell asleep while I was driving? You did seem quite relaxed back then. – And anyway. I'll even let you drive if you want."

She actually had been planning on digging out her old saxophone anyways, but she didn't really feel comfortable with Jane listening. She hadn't played in years.

But with him looking at her like that and with his sweet offer of tea and all the looks he had given her this evening she just couldn't say no.

"Alright." She could already see his grin spreading "but I'm driving", she ordered.

"Great." His eyes twinkled, his face showing genuine joy. She just couldn't help the smile creeping onto her face. Jane excitedly took the now empty cup out of her hands and placed it into the sink with his. Then he took her hand and pulled her gently after him towards the elevators.

"God, what have I gotten myself into" She mumbled, but he could hear the happiness in her voice.
