Neo sat with Ruby on the rooftop of a building long since abandoned. They leaned against each other, watching the sunset, both lost in thought, pondering about the day's activities. Ruby broke the silence. "Neo?..." Nervousness was evident in Ruby's voice. Neo looked at Ruby, to which Ruby continued. "How are we going to make this work with my sister?... And.. Beacon?..." Neo's neutral face took a solumn undertone, and Ruby immediately felt bad. "W-wait! Nevermind, f-forget I asked it..." The red-headed girl stammered out.

Neo shook her head. Bringing her hand to Ruby's, interlocking them and softly squeezing. Ruby squeezed back, worried. After some time of Neo thinking about the question, she used her semblance to make words appear in front of them. Ruby took her time in reading them. "I'm not sure." Ruby sighed quietly, moving close to the multi-colored girl. "I'm not sure either.. But.. I'm not gonna let them ruin my soul mate for me.." Neo blushed, before smiling at Ruby, eyes glistening with unshed tears. More words came into existence. "I'm grateful. And glad." Ruby turned and hugged Neo suddenly.

Neo slightly flinched in suprise, but returned the hug. Neo laid her head against Ruby's shoulder. More words. "I'm sorry fate had to have us together this way. If only I hadn't be-" Ruby didn't let her finish. She flapped her hand in the words, in an attempt to make them disappear. Neo, shocked, made the words disappear, and then jumped again when Ruby held her by the shoulders, forcing her to meet Ruby's eyes. "Don't ever blame yourself!!" A tear fell from Ruby's eye. "Nothing is your fault. Nothing was ever your fault. I love you. You love me. That's all that counts. We have each other. That's what matters." Words appeared again, but Ruby ignored them. "But I-" "You are my soul mate Neo! I wouldn't trade you in for anybody else!!" Ruby clutched the shorter girl to her chest, softly sobbing into her shoulder. Neo tightly gripped the red girl into a hug back. Silently crying as well. "You're all that matters..." Ruby muttered into Neo's neck. Neo shivered, and held Ruby closer. Ruby was right, Neo thought. There was no need to rush this, they had each other right now. It might change in the future, but they might as well make what use of the time they had left. Before the daylight ended.
