Disclaimer: Not mine
Notes: Post series, spoilers apply. Takes place in the verse where Katie and Trip have a son named Wes. I may have caved in and written a kid for them. And I may also be planning a fic where said kid becomes a Power Ranger; what have I become?! At least he's not Tommy and/or Jason's kid, right? At least I've avoided that cliche? And I'll try to keep him from a Stu when/if it ever gets written. (Such a long intro for a short fic!)
Trip felt Wes crying before he heard it- one of the many 'benefits' of being a telepath. Ho got out of bed carefully so he wouldn't wake up Katie. She was the one who had given birth three weeks ago, she needed her rest.
"Hey…" he whispered as he padded into Wes's room. That didn't quiet his son's cries, but then again Trip really hadn't expected it to. "It's going to be okay." He picked up Wes gently, holding him close to his heart. "I know you're scared. I was scared too, when I first came to this planet." He moved to the window, rocking Wes slightly. "But then I met your mother, and she showed me how wonderful this world can be. Far more wonderful than my old home. But now this is my new home, with your mother, and with you." He kissed Wes on the forehead. "So don't worry. You'll love it here, I promise."
"Hey, who woudn't?" Katie yawned as she wrapped her arms around the two of them.
Trip craned his neck to get a better look as his wife. "How long have you been listening?"
Katie gave him a warm grin. "Since 'this is my new home.' I never knew you felt like that, Trip."
"Oh." Trip felt his face heat up. "Well, I do?"
Katie's grin widened. "Then welcome home, the both of you." She took their now sleeping baby and put him back in his crib, pulling the red blanket over him. "C'mon. The baby's sleeping, and so should we."
Trip went back to bed with Katie.
