She laughed.

She spun in a circle under the rings of blossoming trees. The wind whipped about her hair and she laughed. Nothing to tie her down. She was carefree, she was in love.

She cried.

It didn't matter though because the sun was gone with the clouds. Because it rained and the water mixed with her tears and swept them away. He broke her heart, and she wasn't so sure it would mend again.

She wondered at times if she was the sky. Her eyes were the same colour, and when they closed, night fell. When she was thoughtful, white clouds appeared.

She wondered if there was a reason her emotions ruled the weather. When she was happy, the sun shone. When she was sad, fat rain drops fell from the sky and cried with her.

But mayhap she laughed because the sun was in the sky, mayhap she cried because the sky cried. Mayhap, mayhap...

Yes, she was wrong, the sky was there long before her, because she was merely a pawn in time. Hers was not the only soul the sky had seen, and she wasn't going to be the last. Broken hearts had passed this way, and they would keep coming.

She didn't rule the sky, it ruled her.
