The sky is orange at dawn.
The first time they meet, everything goes blissfully. They click immediately, and end up talking for hours, discovering their common likes and dislikes, which are far too many too count. Despite the fact that their parents are forcing the marriage on them, and neither of them had been initially happy about it, they find they actually like each other.
It is like fate. Draco thinks that perhaps this is it. His chance at happiness. Their chance at happiness. She could not be more perfect. Everything blends together beautifully.
"I do," he says gladly, when the day arrives, and nothing could be more perfect.
The sky is yellow at noon.
If Draco had imagined his wedding day was the happiest in his life, he was wrong, he realises. Instead, it is the day he first holds Scorpius in his arms. Just the moment of exhilaration as the infant takes his fingers and yawns, eyes still closed, makes his heart soar. He looks at Astoria, who seems tired, but equally happy. The baby cries, and they both smile.
He knows it will not be easy, and that he has responsibilities ahead, but he will get through it. They, will.
The sky is red at dusk.
Things should not have been like this. This is not how e imagined his life. But he is tired, exhausted, even, and so is she.
Fights, late hours, the baby crying and fussing; they cannot take it anymore. They are falling apart, and he knows it.
He blames himself How can he not? He cannot blame her, who has given everything to make their life work, but he...he has not done enough, he thinks. He could have taken more days off, could have sent more time with her, could have taken care of the baby more often...
But the past is behind them, unchangeable, and he sees the future descending upon them. A future, where he is alone.
He sobs.
