Agony
He cradled her still head in his lap
Tears running down his face
Her sapphire eyes wide and questioning.
The innocent is always the one who dies
She should have been spared, he was the one
Who could have taken the arrow...
He pushed the silky raven hair –
Hair matted with her crimson blood –
Away from her icy face.
And he wished that he could have realized
That death always lingered close to them
That he should have told her before this happened.
He can plead for vengeance
But more death cannot bring her to life
His angel has escaped to heaven.
The nighttime constellations
Watching in all their golden splendor
Ignore his soliloquy.
And so he sits there
Holding her body
And whispers "I love you, Kagome"
To ears that can no longer hear.

Yes, that was indeed pathetic. My first attempt at poetry...*sigh*
