Bobby watched with a smile as his new pup chased after a butterfly that had the misfortune of attracting Rumsfeld's attention. The Rottweiler darted and nipped after his "toy". Bobby chuckled as the insect landed on a nearby flower only to be startled away when Rumsfeld, after stalking through the grass with his belly to the ground, decided to pounce.
Rumsfeld already had the determination and fearlessness that would make him a great yard dog.
That's why Bobby adopted him.
It had nothing to do with filling the void left whenever John collected his boys.
