Emma walked into her house just as Killian was leaving. "Killian," she asked, "Where are you going?" "Sorry love I didn't know you would be home early. I made plans for the afternoon." "Well that's alright I can come with if you want." "Alas there not that kind of plans lass." With a quick kiss he was off walking in the direction of town. Odd. Killian never kept what he was doing from her and he never made mysterious plans without previously informing her of them. Emma shook off her suspiscions if there was one thing she had learned from her previous relationships was that trust was essential.
Killian felt awful. He had never lied to Emma before and he hated doing it but he certainly couldn't tell her that he was going to see her parents because he needed to speak with them alone. When he got to the charming's apartment Snow already had drinks made. Killian sat down on the couch and nervously ran his hand through his hair. It was true that his relationship with the prince had become considerally better than when they first met. Killian even considered David a close friend, however he had no idea how the royals would respond to his request. "So Killian, why did you ask us to be here and not bring Emma?" Killian chuckled, the prince was never one to beat around the bush. Snow was gazing at him in a knowing way, almost as if she knew what he was going to ask. "Well I uh…" Killian shook himself trying to get a grip on his nerves. "Well I've come to ask you permission to marry Emma." The prince looked taken aback but Snow grinned so big and bright at him as she said, "Of course you can marry her." David turned to glare at Snow who gave him a shove in the arm. "Oh come on David. The guy has literally died for our daughter. I think he has proven himself worthy a hundred times over. But tell me Killian how do you plan to propose?"
Emma had gone to her parents mostly because she still wanted time off from work but she also didn't want to sit in her large house alone. What she saw as she unlocked the door shocked her though. Killian was having a heated discussion with both of her parents in the leaving room. No one saw Emma crack open the door. As she strained to try and hear what they were talking about Emma debated whether or not to go in. However, when Killian stood up she shut the door as quickly and quietly as she could and darted up the next flight of stairs just before Killian walked out of the apartment and went down the stairs and outside. Emma now sure of her suspicions that Killian was hiding something followed him all the way to Henry's school. She watched as he pulled Henry aside and had a serious conversation with him. Emma was too far away to hear what was being said but she decided to leave before one of them spotted her. She didn't know how to feel about Killian's secrecy. He had never hid anything from her before so why now? She decided to go home sure that he would come back soon to confront him about it. Emma waited in her home for three hours before finally getting a text from Killian, Meet me at my ship at 8 tonight. I have to speak to you about something.
Killian spent the rest of the day getting ready for Emma's arrival at the Jolly Rodger. Henry had been very supportive of Killian asking for Emma's hand which warmed the old pirates heart. He had grown very fond of Henry and was trying to be a sort of father figure for the boy. 8:00 came quickly and Killian waited for Emma's arrival. 5 minutes passed and Killian wondered where she could be. 10 minutes passed, 15, 20. Killian began to fear that Emma had stood him up when at 8:30 Emma finally walked aboard the ship.
Emma walked straight for the table that held a candle and two place settings with a bottle of wine waiting for two people. The only problem was that Killian was no where in sight. Emma grew very angry when she saw the small velvet box in the middle of her plate. She picked the box up and tentatively opened it to find a gorgeous diamond ring with a silver band inside. Her hand flew to her mouth as she realized why Killian had been sneaking around with her parents and son all day. "So what do you say love?" Emma turned around to see Killian behind her down on one knee looking up at her and smiling that grin that he saved just for her. She thought about all the adventures that she had been on with her pirate and how when she thought she had lost him forever she could barely live. She thought about how great he had been to Henry and how with this gesture and with what she saw at the school today how he knew that he was willing to be her son's father. She thought about how much she loved her pirate and she realized that she wanted this.
Killian began to get nervous as Emma stalled staring at him in an awestruck way. Maybe this was too soon for her, maybe she never wanted to get married. He ran his hand through his hair again before watching as his favorite smile spread across her face as she said the most wonderful word he had ever heard. "Yes." Killian's smiled bigger than he had ever smiled in his whole life as he picked her up and spun her around. He finally set her on the ground and slipped the ring on her finger. Emma smiled his smile as she stared at the ring and than up into his eyes. Killian leaned in and kissed her softly. When he pulled away she laughed, "I was wondering why you were sneaking around all day." Killian laughed too, "Well I gave it some fair thought and I realized that if I needed to do this now before some other crisis finds its way into our lives." "What did Henry say?" "He said that he was waiting for me to do this and he wanted to make sure we did our thing behind locked doors so he couldn't walk in on it." Emma laughed and soon Killian joined in. The two had a glass of wine while laying next to each other on the deck of Killian's ship looking at the stars and talking about the life they would build together. For once they were uninterrupted by a villan or by a nosy townsperson. For once they were truly together and truly happy. Neither one cared about the next villain they would fight. For now they were happy holding one another through the night planning their future. For now their love was all the magic they needed.
