Hey there, everyone! I know you haven't heard from me for a while, but real life has been very stressful for me lately. I'll try to post more often!
This was written at 1 am on a Sunday night in lieu of my Spanish homework, so please feel free to point out any flaws you might find, and I'll fix it ASAP.
Well, without further ado, I present to you my latest KuroFai piece!
Summary: Fai always insists on making the bed; Kurogane can't understand why.
Sunlight poured in through the window, casting a golden glow into the bedroom where the sleeping couple lay. Feeling the warmth of its rays on his face, Fai stirred and reluctantly opened his eyes, blinking several times at the sudden brightness. He stretched his arms, then rolled over and smirked lazily at the man beside him. Still asleep, his usually intense features were relaxed, giving him a peaceful look. Fai's grin widened, and he prodded the man's face with a thin, pale finger.
"Rise and shine, Kuro-rin!"
The man grumbled something unintelligible and turned over, his back now facing the mage. Fai chuckled and sat up, arching his back in another catlike stretch. He reached down and shook the sleeping figure. "Come on, Kuro-tan! I never knew you were such a sloth," he teased.
Earning no response, he sighed and slid off of the bed. He strode over to the window and drew open the curtains to their full extent, causing the sun to illuminate the whole room. After a few moments, the ninja finally threw back the covers and dragged himself out of bed. He grumbled a few choice words at the wizard before stalking off, presumably toward the bathroom.
The blond watched him go with an amused expression, then turned his attention to the bed. He bent down to grab the sheets and fondly noted that they were still warm where Kurogane had been laying. Taking the soft cloth in his hands, he pulled them to the corners and tucked them down carefully. He walked to the other side of the bed and did the same, making sure to smooth out any creases or wrinkles.
"I still don't get why you bother doing that every morning," came a voice from behind him.
Slightly startled, Fai turned to face the figure from which the voice had come. He was leaning against the door frame, dark eyes still slightly hazy with sleep yet keenly observant.
"What's that, Kuro-sama?" he asked, tilting his head inquisitively.
"Make up the bed like that. It's just going to get messed up again when we sleep in it tonight, so what's the point?"
The mage chuckled lightly. "Silly Kuro-wan. Only you would say that!"
"Tch." The taller man scoffed and walked over to the dresser, peeling off his shirt and tossing it unceremoniously onto the floor. "You can't deny that I'm right."
Fai was silent for a few uncharacteristic moments, thinking about the other's words. There was truth to them, he had to admit. "You are right, Kuro-pon. But life is short, just like a day is. Do you think that there's any point in loving someone, since it will all be over eventually…?"
Kurogane stopped rooting through the drawer and turned to face the mage, an odd expression on his face. Walking over to the edge of the bed, he gently pushed the other down onto it. He cupped the wizard's pale cheek with a strong, calloused hand and crushed their lips together. After a few moments he pulled away and stared deep into crystalline blue eyes.
"Idiot," he said quietly. "Don't always think everything is so fleeting."
He stood up and grabbed his shirt from on top of the dresser, leaving a shocked Fai sitting on the bed. On his way toward the door, he called over his shoulder. "Now get dressed, or you'll be late for breakfast."
The blankets were wrinkled when Fai left the room, but he found that he didn't mind so much anymore.
This was a tough one for me, since I prefer dialogue over action, but thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed it and have a pleasant day~
