Ruck's Death
A stray bullet. A fatal swipe. What does it take to end a life?
The Kid felt the warmth of Ruck's blood seep between his fingers, around his knees, mixing with tears. Their palms met, warm on cold, as final words were spoken. Blood replaced air in a hoarse cough, they both knew the time drew near. The Kid let out a moan, of sadness and loss, why did it have to end this way? Rucks knew what he meant "Life is a fragile thing, mine shattered just when it had to" The Kid knew what the man said was right but after The Calamity, there was no-one else. No one else that understood him, no-one else to know. Rucks spoke again "What else can you gain from my presence, the world cannot continue to exist without you" The Kid looked back on the time before, before the sadness.
They were enjoying a walk along Prosper Bluff, talking "The Calamity came, it ravaged families, took lives, and yet here we are walking along the remains of sadness, what went wrong, how can I stop it?" "The Calamity could not be stopped, it served its purpose, did exactly what they meant it to" "Who are they?" Ruck's answer, if there was one, was stopped by a sudden silence. The Kid's breath stopped in his throat, suddenly alert. The shrieking of peckers, the constant fire of pincushions, suddenly silenced. Then he heard it, the simultaneous loading of 10, maybe more, Army Carbines, the kid didn't have to open his eyes to know they were pointed at him.
The Kid knew this was the time, this is what Rucks had been teaching him, readying him for. They never knew what hit them. It started with his War Machete, they might have seen a blur before their arteries were split but many fired anyways. How he managed to survive the spray of bullets? Ask the Bullhead Shield, The Kid still swears Pyth was watching over him. Thanks to the Cael hammer, within mere seconds all of them were wiped out. Or so he thought. Time appeared to slow as one last man pulled the trigger, sending Rucks a final death wish. What could The Kid do?
"I'm so sorry"
