Neville's POV
It had been only a few weeks ago that I had confessed my love for Luna Lovegood.

But it was today that I had asked her out.

"Let's go tomorrow," she said mistily. "Tomorrow? Where to?" I said. "To nowhere," Luna said,"Going anywhere with the one you love should be considered a date, Neville. We'll walk. That is what we'll do." "Okay," I agreed,"You're right. We'll walk."

The next day, I hurried off from breakfast to find Luna. She was standing, talking to a massive portrait of an old man. "Luna," I said, grabbing her arm,"Ready to go?" "Of course," she said mistily, putting her hand in mine. We walked off. We walked generally with crowd, which included several people who were going to Hogsmeade (Harry and Ginny on a date, and Ron and Hermione, who claimed 'it wasn't a date, just two friends going out to eat'). But when we got the chance to turn to Hogsmeade, we walked off the path and into a huge field.

Then it started to rain.

"Luna...shouldn't we go to Hogsmeade or like, head for shelter?" I said. "No," she declared firmly,"I like the rain." "Okay," I said nervously.

We walked and walked until we reached a lake. Luna walked over to the dock, took out an umbrella, and turned her feet in. "Luna-" But she cut me off. She motioned for me to come next to her, and I did the same.

So, I put my arm around her.

She stood, and then she whispered,"Neville?" "Yes?" I said. "I have never felt like this before," she said even quieter. "Like what?" I said. "You make me feel....different. Normal. Like I fit in. Like I'm not different," she said, dropping her head, silent tears streaming down her cheeks. "Luna," I said,"I have always felt that way. And I will never feel different. Ever. We're different, and that's what makes us special. We're the outcasts. Thrown away. But as long as we have each other, we are whole."

Luna burst out sobbing, burying her head in my chest. "Luna," I said, stroking her hair,"You don't have to cry." "Neville...no one had ever said anything like...like...like that," Luna said.

A tear rolled down my cheek.

If anyone had been looking at us, it would have looked weird: two people standing on a dock, with their feet turned in, underneath an umbrella, crying.

"Luna," I said,"I love you. And I will never feel any different. Ever."
With that, we started kissing passionately.

After a few minutes, we broke apart.

"Neville," Luna whispered,"I love you too."

We intertwined our fingers, and walked back.

We walked through the field again, and then we made it back to the Hogsmeade goers. Luna wandered off to Hermione, and said,"So how was your 'not date' with Ron?"

I stared at her, and then suddenly I felt years older.

I didn't have to deal with this when I was younger. I didn't have to worry about how girls felt, or how I looked...

and I didn't have to worry about Luna.

Harry looked at me and said,"Neville, are you okay? You look like you just got back from a funeral." "I've never been better Harry. I just realized something very important," I said. "What's that?" Ginny said. "That...that....I need Luna. She is my other. She is that someone," I said.

And with that, I walked off, planning my future with Luna Lovegood.

So how was it? R&R...you know you want to.
