Prompt for Friday January 14th:

Dream catcher

"Harry Potter," He paused for a moment or so. "this is not what you're supposed to be doing." The raspy voice hurts my ears.

"It's meant to be." I said through gritted teeth, my jaws clenched.

"It's not too late, Potter." I can feel his nails running on my skin, painful yet reminded me of still being alive. "Join the dark side, and we, together, will be invulnerable!"

"No." I said abruptly.

"Well then come here. Try and kill me." The pale face laughed a piercing laugh, and he gestured his hand as if calling someone.

"What do you want?" I was focusing on everything, finding the right words. "What do you want?" I was getting desperate, when I saw that he wasn't calling someone, he was calling something-his snake. "Bloody hell, what do you want?" And I fell into a dark hole, falling without any certainty of when I'm going to stop. All the while, his laugh was still ringing inside my head.

Finally, my back hit something solid. Oddly, it didn't hurt at all, and it was like I just learnt to breathe. My eyes were closed, so I opened them and realized that it was just a dream.

Everyone else seemed to be fast asleep, dreaming their own dreams. My face was sweating, and I didn't feel like staying in one place, so I decided to go down to the common room for a little while.

The common room was dark, but I heard a couple talking to each other and snogging in the corner. I, obviously, didn't want to interrupt, so I crept silently towards the corridors. It was very early in the morning, therefore cold and silent. I felt even lonelier and started to think that this wasn't the best idea after all.

"Oh hi there, Harry." I was startled by the gentle voice coming from my favorite blonde.

"Hey, Luna." I tried to sound casual.

"Trying to find Jellycobble feathers as well? So very smart of you to look so early in the morning, they don't come out much when the sun is up, and very early in the morning is when they started to shed their feathers." I didn't understand a thing of what Luna assumed I was doing.

"Oh no no, I just couldn't sleep. Nightmares." I admitted.

"Not making a catcher of dreams? Jellycobble is the best feather to use because they're too pure to let nightmares come through." Luna was going on again about the Jellycobble creature.

"I'm not. Are you?"

"Yes. I just finished." Her eyes wandered towards the space behind me. "Harry, I think you need this." She started to take off her over-sized earring and handed it to me.

"I don't wear earrings, Luna." I imagined myself wearing earrings-it's not going to work.

"These are the catcher of dreams, the dreamcatcher." Luna pointed out. "You need this more than I do, I haven't had a nightmare in 56 days." She stated.

"But you made this." I refused.

"I'll make another one tomorrow night." She smiled. I observed the web like thing in her hands. I took it and immediate felt a surge of peacefulness.

"Sleep well, Harry." Luna skipped towards the Ravenclaw Common Room.

"Good night, Luna." I couldn't help but think that Luna herself was the dreamcatcher. She seemed so flawless, carefree, and sweet. I cared about her, and it's good to know she cared about me too.
