The first three inches of Elsa's dagger became intimately acquainted with Emilia's right atrium. Emilia looked down in horror to see the hilt sticking out from her sternum, firmly held in place by a slender arm in a long black bridal glove. And there was so much red. It was a color that belonged on roses, ladybugs, and potion flasks, but never covering the entire front of her bright white blouse.
The floorboards creaked behind Emilia as a figure emerged from the shadows. She felt two soft bulbous things press against her shoulder blades.
"Oh, my. This is quite the unsavory end for our brave little heroine, isn't it?" Elsa whispered into Emilia's ear with a voice that was cold, sarcastic, and dangerously self-aware.
Emilia turned her head as far as she could while her body was paralyzed in pain.
"...wh-... why?" she whimpered over her shoulder.
"Because you're dirty." Elsa chuckled as if Emilia had just asked her the most obvious question in the world. "I can't leave witnesses at the scene of the crime."
Emilia looked down and gasped. There sprawled across the floor of the store room, lying still under the the eerie moonlight, was Subaru in a pool of his own blood. He was frozen on his side with his hands clutching a grisly wound on his stomach.
"...you... killed him?" Emilia stuttered weakly. "What did he do t-yughn!"
Elsa gave the knife a good twist before yanking it out in a flash. Emilia threw her head back in agony as her chest spouted forth in a brilliant crimson geyser.
Elsa wrapped her hand over the top of Emilia's head and gave her a small peck on the cheek. Then she gave Emilia a light push on her bottom, sending her off to go do her bleeding somewhere else.
Emilia crumpled face-down on the ground beside Subaru. Her terrified eyes gazed across the floorboards and met Subaru's lifeless, vacant stare. Her vision quickly dimmed as the cold caress of death began to overtake her.
"Thanks for the kill count, sweetie. And the cute insignia." Elsa winked.
Elsa ran her long nail across the edge of her dagger, collecting a thick reservoir of arterial blood on the tip of her little finger. She sucked the nectar off of her nail and spread the last few drops evenly across her lips, painting them in a new shade of red she was thinking about calling Vestal Ruby. Clicking her tongue against her teeth, she decided on a whim that she enjoyed Emilia's flavor. Really enjoyed it.
Elsa chuckled as she descended into the low swampy shadows of the storeroom. Emilia felt the two lumps brushing her back again, only now they were eagerly grinding against her and pushing her down against the hardwood floor.
Emilia's pure and helpless white features were engulfed under the expansive blackness of Elsa's cape and skirt. A pair of tiny daggers stabbed into the base of her neck, and then the warmth started to leave her body twice as quickly as before.
While Subaru would get a second chance at life by leaping his soul into another universe, Emilia was being given her own second chance in this one. Whether she liked it or not.
