Black Spy stood atop his headquarters, watching as White Spy tried to break his way in. He giggled to himself and flipped a switch to set off his latest trap for his adversary. Sitting down and knowing quite well that White Spy would have no troubles whatsoever reaching the roof where he now sat, Black Spy grabbed a stick of TNT and lit it. He sat and waited, listening with his eyes closed for the expected crash of the roof hatch being thrown open. But this time, it didn't come. Realizing that he would be blown to smithereens in just a few seconds if he didn't put out the dynamite, Black Spy quickly extinguished the wick. It must be a trap. There is absolutely no reason that White Spy wouldn't be on the roof by now. Taking great measures of caution, Black Spy opened the hatch and descended into his headquarters.
Inside, it was silent. The trap no longer ran and the absence of sound as he stood there made it seem like the whole world was holding its breath. That's when he released his own breath that he hadn't realized he had been holding. His heartbeat began to increase with every echoing step, and Black Spy had to will it to keep calm. So far, no sight of White Spy. He continued through the many complex hallways down into the main trap room. Seeing that the cage was indeed empty, he relaxed a little. There was something strange to him about the possibility of one of the two Spies finally overpowering and outsmarting the other. Receding to his main quarters, he bolted himself into his room after checking not twice, but thrice. Relaxing after a hard day of running back and forth between his own and his rival's headquarters, Black Spy shut his eyes and slept.
White Spy awoke in a cold sweat from his nightmare. He hadn't had one of those in many years. Actually, it was longer than he could remember since his last nightmare. He shook himself awake and began preparations for yet another day of battling Black Spy. He could not get the nightmare out of his head, however. They had always been bad omens. Trying to ignore his increasing worry, White Spy grabbed his binoculars to spy on Black Spy as he continued his own preparations. White Spy replaced the binoculars and descended into his own trap room, much like the one in Black Spy's headquarters, and put the finishing touches on a mega-trap of his own. White Spy had great confidence that today would be the day he finally captured Black Spy. That was, after all, why he had so quickly absconded from the scene the previous evening. No matter, there was still plenty of work to be done.
Ascending to the roof of the headquarters, White Spy sat and waited, holding a backup bomb, just in case. You can never be too careful.
