A/N- Random little OneShot. :)

You see, the thing with Jemma Simmons is that she was a genius. Everyone knew it. She was the best of the best. She knew everything worth knowing and handfuls of stuff that wasn't.

But underneath the brains and the beauty, she was one of the clumsiest people ever to walk through shield. She didn't want to know how much all the beakers cost to replace the ones she broke throughout her years, or how many times she had tripped over her own feet. It was embarrassing to say the least.

Of course Fitz knew all about it, it was hard to hide, but she had managed to keep it secret from the rest of the team. She only had concentrated extra hard when the team was near, and that wasn't that hard.

The only problem now was that Skye loved being in the lab with her. She had her own corner, own table everything, and that wasn't good for Jemma.

She made her nervous, made her belly flutter in excitement. She tried to calm her heart rate down with breathing exercises but nothing worked. Nerves made her even more clumsy thus she concentrated more, trying to block everything out.

"Jemma?"

"Yes, Skye?"

"Didn't you hear anything I just said?"

Jemma removed her protective glasses and carefully placed the beaker back down on the table before she started speaking. "I'm sorry, what did you say?"

Skye looked at her suspiciously. Jemma was always different when she was in the room, quiet and in her own world. She was starting to feel like she had outstayed her welcome.

"I said am I annoying you? Because I can go somewhere else."

"No!" Jemma panicked. "No, you are not annoying me. I like the company," She really did. Too much in fact. She couldn't really win.

Skye laughed. "You always have company." Meaning Fitz.

"I like your company," Jemma clarified, putting her glasses back on to hide her blush.

"Oh...good, because..." before she could finish her sentence, May's voice was heard over the intercom. "Meet at the holotable."

Jemma began clearing her things away as Skye closed her laptop and jumped off her chair. May's timing wasn't the best.

They began to make their way to the stairs in silence. They both sneaked looks at each other. Jemma was just hoping she wouldn't fall. 'One foot in front of the other. It's not hard,' she thought to herself, continuing the monologue and she made her way to the stairs.

She looked back to Skye, unable to take her eyes of her for too long, it was impossible when they were this close. But that one second of indulgence proved fatal as she felt her right foot decide to hug her left, tripping her. The motion of her feet somehow forced her to spin around as she tried to grab anything to stop her momentum. Before she knew it, she was flat on her back with a dull ache at the base of her skull. Her first thought was of the embarrassment of her clumsiness, her second thought was, "Oh my goodness!"

"Are you ok, Jemma?" Skye asked from above her. Like literally on top of her, straddling her.

Her cheeks reddened as she looked at Skye with panic in her eyes. The cat was definitely out the bag, so to speak. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Thank you."

"I'm falling head over heels for you," Skye smiled, unable to move from her current position, she may never get the chance again.

"Very funny," Jemma replied, trying to get up and recover the best she could.

Before she could get very far she felt warm lips on hers, kissing her soundly and gently. It was like time stopped, at first Jemma didn't kiss back, the shock stopping her brain. Suddenly Skye's lips were no where near hers and she wondered why. Until she opened her eyes and saw the uncertainty in Skye's eyes.

"Can you kiss me again?" Jemma asked, clearing her throat. "You caught me off guard."

Skye smiled, leaning down and kissing her again.

Maybe being clumsy isn't the worst thing, after all it helped her get the girl.
