I carry your heart with me.

"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." –Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Block,

My stupid English teacher is making us write a response to the quote above, describing all the ways we love someone and the first person to pop into my mind was obviously you.

How do I love you, Block?

I love you in the way you need to be most loved, I guess. Unconditionally and without restrictions. I love you in the way you need someone to be your support, to be the one that will be there to build you back up again when the world beats you down. I love you in how I'm there to stop you from going too far, always there at your elbow to remind you how brilliant you really are and that none of those gossiping losers needs any effort or time wasted on them. I love you in the way that you need someone that isn't your friends that knows all your flaws and little quirks and things that set you off and still loves you as much as he did from the start.

I love you in a hopeless way because no matter what you do, you'll never be any less in my eyes. I know you have your pride and sometimes you can become a little too obsessed with your position at the top, but I also know that you have a bigger heart than most people know and that you would do anything to protect those that you love. I will always love you, no matter what, because I know you wholly and intimately and could map you out with my eyes closed.

I love you in a quiet way, not because we aren't passionate, but because we don't go out exclaiming our love to everyone we meet. I love you in the ways we express our feelings through touches and kisses and caresses, more infinitely intimate than words could ever be. I love you with the three words we never need, because our actions speak clearly enough. I love you in the way I can look at you across a room and you know that I'm saying 'I love you' without having to speak those words. I love you in the way that you can press a hand against my cheek and I know that is the way you're apologizing.

Block, all these words would never be enough to fully describe all the ways we love each other, but I think I love you the better just for writing this. I'll show this to you later and we can laugh and giggle over how mushy this is and decide if we're truly the only couple in the world that prefers actions to words.

I love you, Block and that's as simple as it gets.

-Derrick.

a/n: this is based on the quote from above obviously. I also got some help from this article ( thoughtcatalog./2011/the-ways-in-which-i-will-love-you/). Title is from a poem called 'I carry your heart' by e.e. cummings.

idk, i just can't get enough of Massie and Derrick, they just go along so perfectly together. I hope everyone liked it and thank you for reading it!
