Drabble – Abuse

Hephaestion watched as Alexander circled the room venting his anger and frustration. He was supposed to be getting dressed for a royal banquet but instead he was pacing and ranting.

"I just don't understand how they can be so narrow minded. They are on the adventure of a lifetime and all I ever hear is how homesick they are. Maybe I should send for all of their mommies so they can cry on their shoulders. They act more like little boys than grown men." Alexander said wringing his hands in frustration.

Hephaestion couldn't help but smile as he listened to his friend. Alexander was not a patient man under the best of circumstances but when he ire was riled up, like tonight, it was even worse. He was the picture of annoyance, talking to himself, his voice rising and falling, his hands flailing and twisting.

"It could be worse." Said Hephaestion.

"Who could feel worse than I do?"

"How about that sash in your hands you have been abusing into knots for the last hour?"

Alexander looked down at the four-foot sash in his hands now only about six inches long.

Hephaestion ducked as the sash flew over his head.
