"In a shocking turn of events, Nathan Freeman, the 18 year old millionaire, founder of G-Core Enterprises has announced that he is stepping down as the CEO of the company. Handing it down to the CFO Michael Henderson and the reason for the sudden departure? According to our sources, the young CEO wants to take time off and find himself…. What do you think John?"

"What an idiot! I mean, G-Core Enterprises is on the rise, the stocks are at an all time high and the company is on the fast track to a huge success and he, the 18 year old wants to take time off to find himself? That's gotta be the biggest load of …"

"Shut it off Frank!" shouted a young man who had shoulder length brown hair pulled back into a ponytail to reveal a chiseled, timeworn face.

His wide sapphire eyes set rooted within their sockets and a full beard complimented his broad nose. Nathan Freeman didn't care what the news was saying about him. The truth was he was tired. Tired of running a company…. He wanted to try to live a normal life…. at least that's what he was thinking at the moment. The young boy turned his head to stare out the window of his private plane. The plane was currently flying over the Atlantic Ocean. He was on his way to Japan, he had friends living over there. The sound of someone clearing his or her throat caused him to look over at the seat across from him. Sitting there was Frank Lamkins. Frank had short grey hair that was buzzed on the sides, and it revealed his less than radiant face and his woeful brown eyes.

Frank is a former military Sergeant Major who served in the Marines for 34 years and was recently retired after getting wounded during a firefight in the current Afghanistan war. Nathan smiled as he remembered that Frank requested that he accompany him so he could keep him safe, despite Nathan telling him that he no longer required protection since he left the company, but Frank wouldn't have any of it. Stating that he was hired to protect the young Freeman until he could longer do so.

"So I gotta ask Frank, when are you going to grow a beard? Hell, when are you going to grow your hair out? I mean you've kept that same cut since the day I hired you!" Nathan asked trying to make conversation since the trip would be a long one.

"About the same time you cut that thing hanging on the back of your head," the 53 year old replied matter-of-factly without looking up from his newspaper.

Nathan smirked which was something he rarely did lately. Maybe that's why he had accepted his friend's invite to come stay with him and his family at their house. He had no life outside of the company. His own family was gone, and his father Troy was killed when he was five by a drunk driver. Suddenly, the plane shook violently, without a word Frank got up from his seat making his way to the cockpit where the pilot was stationed, he knocked on the door before opening it and seeing the pilot trying to regain control of the plane. Frank didn't see any problems that would cause the plane to shake. He exited the cockpit before making his way past Nathan only to stop in his tracks when he saw out the window; one of the engines was smoking.

"Mister Freeman I advise that you strap yourself to your seat, cause we're going for a bumpy…." Before Frank could finish there was loud boom and another violent shake this one much harder sending the older man stumbling backwards and that's when he saw what had happened, the engine that had smoking earlier had exploded.

Frank stumbled back towards where Nathan was sitting.

"What the hell is going on Frank?" Nathan asked the moment the 53-year-old former Marine took his seat and strapped himself in. Frank didn't respond to Nathan's question, he had realized something at that very moment and he quickly unbuckled himself then did the same to Nathan. He grabbed the eighteen year old by his arm then dragged him to the back of the plane.

"What the fuck…. What are you doing Frank?" Nathan asked getting nervous over the actions of his friend and the plane.

Again the former Marine gave no reply. Instead he grabbed the nearest parachute and placed it on Nathan before opening the door,

"What the hell…" Nathan started to say but stopped and grabbed the side of the door when Frank tired to push him out the open door.

"Are you insane? What the hell are you…" before he could finish Frank brought his foot up and kicked Nathan straight in the chest sending him out the door of the plane.

Nathan fell through the air at high speed; he quickly reached up and grasped the harness ring then yanked it releasing the parachute. As he was falling through the air, Nathan watched in horror as the plane crashed into the desert of Egypt.

"Frank!" Nathan yelled into the quiet of the air as he neared the ground.

No one could have survived that crash and explosion. Nathan couldn't believe that Frank had sacrificed himself to save him. The moment he touched the ground, he yanked the parachute off his back and started running hoping he was heading in a direction that would bring him into town. He had no idea how long he had been running, but he eventually pulled his shirt off and wrapped it around his head to cover his head from the sun. Nathan was exhausted and he had no water. The extreme heat and the exertion spent from running in the desert was beginning to take its toll on him.

Eventually the heat and exhaustion was too much for Nathan as he dropped to one knee, his breathing was heavy and he finally dropped to both knees and then he placed his hands on the sand beneath him.

"Got to…. Got to…. Keep…. Keep going," he muttered as he staggered to his feet only to fall once again, this time his entire body fell to the ground. His eyes started to close as he was beginning to lose consciousness the sound of a horse could be heard. His eyes opened slightly, he glanced up and off in the distance he saw a figure on a horse making their way towards him as he drifted off into unconsciousness.

Nathan awoke from what felt like only a few minutes. He looked around and saw that he was in a room, but no room he had ever seen before. He glanced down to see that he was lying in a bed so he tossed the covers off, and then climbed out of the bed. He instantly realized that he wasn't wearing the same clothes he had been wearing earlier. Nathan's head shoots up when the door to the room opens and in walks a woman followed closely by two guards.

"Follow me," the woman said then without another word turned and walked out the door.

Nathan followed her. He opened his mouth to speak but she cut him off, "All of your answers will be answered soon" confused, he continued to follow her to two large doors that opened as they drew nearer.

They entered, and standing at the front of the room was a man with black hair and white sideburns. He wore black armor and at his side was a sword.

"Welcome Nathan Freeman, I see you have made a quick recovery from your dehydration," the man said without turning to look at him.

Nathan was shocked, he glanced around to see that everyone including the woman was down on one knee, and not wanting to do anything to anger anyone he quickly did the same.

"There is no need for that Nathan…. Or least not yet" the man said as he turned to face them, "My name is Ra's Al Ghul and I lead the League of Assassins"

Nathan looked up again with hesitation. He knew of Ra's and the League from their battles with the Justice League and Shadow Warriors. He had read about them in newspapers and heard about them on T.V.

"The woman next to you is my daughter Talia, she was the one who found you out in the desert and brought you here" Ra's said as he stepped down from his throne. "The destruction of your plane was no accident, it was brought on by someone you trusted…. Your most trusted friend, I believe his name is Mister Henderson."

Nathan's head shakes in disbelief.

"That's not the only reason why you were allowed to be brought here…. Your city is sick Mister Freeman and it's dying" Ra's said as he walked over to a window in the room, "Normally I would send my Assassins to cleanse the city…. But recently I have come to believe that a city deserves the chance to be shown that it can be saved so that is why you were brought here before me Mister Freeman, I'm giving you a chance to prove that your city can be saved" Ra's said as he turned to face Nathan.

"I will do whatever it takes" Nathan replied, Ra's smiled, he knew that Nathan would not hesitate to save his city.

"Just as I thought, now in order to beginning your journey to save your city you must join the League of Assassins" Ra's said, Nathan looked down at the ground. Could he do it? They were known murders but then again if they were the key for him getting back home and give him the means to save his city then he had only one answer.

"I'll do it" Nathan said without hesitation.

Ra's smirked.

"Welcome to the league of assassins… Al Rami."

Three Weeks Later

Nathan hit the ground back first, he looked up to see Talia Al Ghul standing over him with her sword pointed straight at his throat.

"Get up" she growled and he did as he was told only for her to take him down with a leg sweep making him land back first on the ground again.

Again he looked up at her to see a look of disgust on her face, this time he didn't bother getting up so she went to stomp down on him but he was ready because he caught her foot then shoved her backwards hard causing her to stumble backwards allowing him to do a quick kip up landing on his feet. He didn't let her breath as he ran at her, swing his fist but she ducked it and rammed her elbow into the back of his head making him stumble forwards.

"This is pathetic…. Your not even trying to win and because of this you will lose and YOU. WILL. DIE" Talia growled as she brought her sword up then down towards Nathan.

The former G-Core CEO brought his own blade up at the last second, blocking hers. It caught her off guard only for a brief moment. Nathan spun on his heels then brought his sword up and she dodged it before kicking him in the wrist causing him to drop the sword. He went to pick it up but she stopped him by kicking his wrist then spun and kicked him square in the chest causing him to stumble backwards before landing on his ass. Talia sent a cold glare at Nathan before turning on her heel then walked out of the room leaving him there alone. She made her way down the hall until she reached her father's chambers and stormed inside without warning, she was angry and confused as to why she had to train Nathan. She went to voice her displeasure only to stop when Ra's put his hand in the air.

"Do you remember your sister?" he asked.

The question caught her off guard but to be honest Talia thought about her sister Nyssa everyday and missed her dearly but her death was necessary.

Nyssa had become soft. It all started with her falling in love with Mark Langston, a fellow member of League of Assassins at the time, and then to become pregnant by him. How could she let herself lose focus and defy the league's rules? Ra's rules. Yes after Nyssa was killed by the assassin known as Nightstalker, Talia did help Langston escape the pit that her father had sentenced him to for eternity but she did that on her own accord. She never learned where her niece or nephew ended up after they were handed off to Batman for safe keeping, she had made a promise on her sister's grave that she wouldn't go anywhere near the child thus keeping them safe from the league. Ra's turned to face Talia with a smile on his face.

"I know you miss her daughter, as do I, but as you know she had to die. The reason I bring this up is, what do you remember about her?" he asked taking a step towards her.

"I remember our first mission together…. Well it was really my mission and she snuck onboard and I still have no idea how I didn't sense her" Talia replied, the memory brought a smile onto her face.

She lifted her head and saw her father staring at her, "Why the sudden questions about Nyssa father?" she asked.

Ra's didn't reply but smirked slightly before saying, "Have you gotten a close look at the boy?" she shook her head, "Nothing looks familiar to you?" he asked and again she shook her head. "No… no, probably not it's been years, you could easily forgotten the simplest of features…"

"Why must I train the boy father?" she asked cutting him off, the older man sent a glare at his daughter before saying,

"You are to train him because he is your nephew."

Talia stood there in shock, her eyes widened. She couldn't believe what she had heard. She knew that a child existed but she hadn't kept track of them out of respect of her dear sister. She never wanted her niece or nephew to be apart of the League. She knew that Nyssa felt the same. She also knew that Nyssa's love and Nathan's father Mark Langston would not approve of this since he has nothing but absolute hatred towards the League of Assassins and her father Ra's Al Ghul for killing her sister.

"Will that be a problem daughter?" Ra's asked, breaking her out of her thoughts.

Talia looked at her father and shook her head before bowing then after turning on her heels she walked out of the room going back to the training room. Upon entering the room she stopped when she saw Nathan sparring against three men at once. She watched as he took one down after the other but she also noticed that he was being more forceful against them than he was when they were sparring earlier.

"Enough" Talia ordered as she stepped forward making everyone stop in their tracks, "Leave us" she said to the men who quickly bowed then walked out of the room leaving Talia alone with Nathan who looked at her uneasily.

She didn't say anything at first as she began to walk around him in a circle.

"Why is it when you sparred with me you held back but when I watched you spar with the men you did not?" she asked him finally stopping when she was right in front of him.

Nathan went to speak but she cut him off.

"Is it because I am a woman?" she asked him curtly.

"No of course not… it's just…." He stopped realizing that he didn't really know how to answer the question.

A small smirk crossed Talia's lips. She could tell that the man before her wasn't fully committed to the league and their ways. He still had compassion. This meant he still had morals, not a corrupted soul. She was happy to see this in him because if he were to ever learn the truth about his parentage and who they were then she knew that he would not only want out of the league but would most likely take up their crusade of bringing the league burning down to the ground.

'One day you learn the truth my dear nephew and when that day comes you will be a force to be reckoned with' Talia thought to herself as she once again got into a fighting position with her sword out, Nathan quickly did the same.

Seven Years Later- Keystone City

Nathan or as he as been called for the last seven years Al Rami, was going on his first official mission for the league. Talia was going with to make sure that he completed his mission, but would not be allowed to intervene for he alone was take out his target. This didn't go against Ra's new vision on how to better the world, he considered this an exception because of the type person the target was. Nathan stared out the window of the plane.

"Your target is a man named Karl Anders. He is thief and a man who sexually abuses his young 12 year old daughter" Talia said as she sat across from him.

She didn't have to know what he was thinking because she saw it in his facial expression. When she slowly glanced down she saw his hand clenching into a fist, which brought a smile to her face. Talia was getting to him, morphing him into the assassin that her father needs and what she needed to bring the league down,

"Tell me Nathan… tell me about your family" she said, Nathan turned his head to look at her.

"There isn't much to tell really…. I jumped from foster home to foster home, each time being sent back to the orphanage that I was dropped off at" he replied.

He didn't speak for a while, probably thinking of what to say next but then he spoke again, "I guess the reason why it kept happening was because I was…. am angry with my so-called parents, they abandoned me…. I don't even know what they look like" he stopped speaking and turned his head to look out the window once more.

Talia stared at him. Sometimes it was hard for her to remain distant from him. To hide how she really felt for him. She saw her sister in him and it was that part of him that she needed to foster in him, so that he wouldn't be truly part of the League. She didn't know if she should tell him the truth or continue the lie that she had been hiding for the past seven years. Talia turned away and decided against it.

"I just… wish I knew if they were alive so I could ask them why they gave me up but a part of me never wants to see them," he said just as the plane landed on the runway.

Nathan and Talia got to their feet then made their way towards the door of the plane. They walked down the stairs and made their way to the parked car.

"So how does this work? I mean how do you normally do this? Do you just go in and kill your target or do you somehow get close to your target before killing him?" Nathan asked as they reached the car. Talia turned to look at Nathan then said,

"You do as you see fit as long as you complete the mission." Nathan watched as Talia got into the car, which drove off leaving him standing there.

He turned and made his way to the parked motorcycle. He climbed on and put his helmet on and drove off. As Nathan drove he saw a woman his age running down the sidewalk, which he would have ignored if he had not seen four men chasing her right into an alleyway. He pulled off to the side, climbed off the bike but didn't remove his helmet and made his way towards the alleyway. He peered around the corner and saw that the men had the girl boxed in. Nathan felt anger in him as he stepped out from his hiding spot. His training made Nathan's steps light and none of the men heard him coming until he leapt into the air and rammed his knee into the back of one of the men sending him forwards.

The man to Nathan's right came at him but his punch was quickly blocked and then Nathan sent a punch to the man's sternum knocking the breath out of him, causing the man to bend over so Nathan grabbed the man's head and slammed it into the wall of the nearby building knocking him out cold. Nathan turned his attention to the other three men who thought they were smart as they went at Nathan all at once, but that proved the wrong move as he pulled out a retractable baton. He struck the first man in the side of the head, he blocked the incoming punch from the second man, meanwhile the third man pulled out a gun and pointed it at Nathan but due to his training he reacted quickly and even before the man could pull the trigger he grabbed the man by the wrist and twisted it hard breaking it making the thug cry out in pain before he dropped the gun to the ground. Nathan didn't allow the man to speak as he struck him in the side of the skull with the baton knocking him out cold. Nathan looked up to see that the woman they had chased was gone but she had dropped her purse. He walked over and picked it up, going through it he found the woman's I.D. card and saw her name.

Nathan placed the I.D. card back inside her purse then turned and started walking out of the alleyway. As he was making his way towards his motorcycle he stopped suddenly then looked around. He didn't know why but he had a feeling as if he was being watched but there was no one standing out to him so he shrugged his shoulders then climbed on his bike and drove off down the street to the motel he would be staying at.

A few cars down from the alleyway sat a dark SUV, sitting inside was a woman with snow white hair. The woman watched as Nathan drove down the street before pulling out her phone. She dialed a number then held the phone up to her ear a few seconds later she spoke.

"I've found him."
