Short Note

I wasn't planning on writing a sequel, but I had nothing better to do, so, yeah.

Link and Aryll, just recently orphaned, did not speak much for the next couple of weeks. When Zoel asked them to come out of the house and play, they refuse. Sue-Belle occasionally asked Aryll if she wishes to help her with chores, which she used to enjoy doing, but Aryll had not for a while. Understandably, the villagers were very concerned. They decided to contact Link and Aryll's closest relative.

Five days later, Link and Ayrll were sitting in their house. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Link got up to answer it. When he opened the door, he saw a little old lady standing on the porch. She wore a red dress and her white hair was tied in a bun. She was shorter than Link, but looked taller than Aryll.

" Link, I don't believe you remember me, do you?" she said. " You were just a baby when I last saw you and look at you! You've grown into a fine young man and look so much like your father. I'm your grandmother. I've come to look after you and your sister."

" Oh," Link said. " Please come in!"

The lady who called herself Link's grandmother walked into the house. Aryll saw her and began to panic.

" Big Brother, what are you thinking?" she said. " You know perfectly well that Mommy and Daddy taught us to never let strangers in the house!"

" Hush, child," the lady said. " I am your grandmother. I've come to live here and take care of you two.

" Grandmother?" Aryll said, confused. " I don't remember having a grandmother."

" I don't blame you, Aryll," the lady said. Apparently Aryll was shocked that the lady knew her name. " We've never met. You look so much like your dear mother."

" Um, excuse me, miss?" Link said.

" Oh, pish posh!" the lady said. " Feel free to call me Grandma. That's perfectly fine."

" Um, yeah," Link said. " Well, I suppose you've heard about our par… about what happened?"

" Oh, yes I've heard," the lady said, this time in a different tone of voice. " I assure you, I'm just as upset about it as you are. But we're going to try to put the past behind us and live a happy life as a family!"

" Yeah…" Link said. " Okay…"

" Now, I'm going to get started on our dinner," the lady said. " I'm going to make my specialty soup! You'll love it! In the meantime, the neighbors told me you haven't been out much lately. Why don't you two go and play in that look out of yours. I'll call you when dinner's ready." Aryll thought for a moment. Then she looked at Link and smiled hopefully. Link looked back at her.

" I think that's a great idea," Link said. Aryll jumped up and down in excitement. She ran out the door and Link followed her. Just before leaving he looked back at the lady.

" Thanks, Grandma," he said and ran out after Aryll, shutting the door behind him.
