Sometimes it was hard being friends with Rex. Sometimes it was just the small things, like how he would call me about how horrible his day was going. At the absolute wrong times.
"Dude!" I angrily whisper, covering my hand with my mouth and trying to crouch low in the chair. Good thing the teacher was distracted answering another classmates question. "I'm in math! Stop calling!"
"But Noah!" Rex whines. "Six is making me go to these boring Providence meetings, I'm dying here! I need a distraction! It's so boring!"
"I know what you mean…" I mumble. "But my GPA is on the line! And besides, how are you even calling me if your in a meeting?"
"I'm hiding in the bathroom."
"Dude! Gross!"
"What? It's not like I'm actually doing anything!"
I roll my eyes. "Look, how about we both get out of here you come over for some basketball or something okay? But stop spamming my phone!"
"Fiiiine, geez what a grouch." Rex mumbles the last part but I can hear him.
My eyebrow twitches and I angrily sigh. "I am not a grouch! I'm just-"
Someone couching snaps me out of my angry rant I look up, standing before my desk is the teacher Mr. Ricold.
"Uh…heh….hi." I mutter, rubbing the back of my head.
"Oops! Sorry Noah! Good luck!" I hear Rex shout, before I hear a click. That jerk!
hands me a detention slip and I hand my head.
"Looks like your going to have to post pone that basketball game." He lectures, before going back to the board.
I sigh, laying my head on my desk, ignoring the others giggling.
oOoOo
Or like how he has no respect for my time! Like once I was trying to finish my homework and he showed up out of nowhere and just made himself at home.
"I'm telling you Noah, it was bore-Ville! The EVO's hardly put up a fight anymore!" Rex complains, putting his feet up on the coffee table, and on to my history textbook.
I slap his feet of it. "You get prints on that and my mom will kill me. And oh yeah, sounds so boring." I mutter, glaring at my huge amount of history homework I had to finish for tomorrow.
"I know, right?" Rex nods, putting his feet back on the table.
oOoOo
Sometimes it was the big things, like how sometimes I would get dragged into his messes. Like once I got a call from Six at 1 AM who told me that Rex was chasing an EVO that he had failed to catch properly, and it was in my neighborhood. He asked me to try to find Rex since they couldn't locate where he was exactly since he had taken out his communicator. Why did they even think I could find him, when skiled, hightly trained Providence agents couldn't? Maybe because I knew the area better?
For whatever reasons, that's how I had spent two hours of my night trying to chase Rex down. You think it would be easy finding an EVO and a giant robot guy, but it's not when it's such a large city! The only reason I even found him was when Rex had punched the EVO sending it flying, and it nearly landed on me!
Yah. Rex was a lot to handle. He could be annoying, and rude, and obnoxious, not to mention reckless. And he was always getting into trouble…but he was my best friend. And I would always have his back. No matter what.
My phone rings and I answer it. Speak of the devil…
"Hey Noah!" Rex says extra cheerfully.
"Hey Rex, what's up?" I ask.
"Want to help me give Bobo a bath?" I can hear lazer gun in the background and Bobo yelling. "Aint nobody going near me!"
I roll my eyes. "You couldn't even pay me." And I turn off the phone.
Okay. This was the exception. Do you know what wet monkey smells like?
