Chapter one

"Lea! Don't you ever brush your hair?"

A slender hand attempted to comb out the knots so thick it appeared as if the young boy's hair was starting to spike up.

"Mooooooom, quit it would you?" a chuckle escaped and he batted the hand away. "You know it's no use brushin it."

"Brushing. With a G. B. R.U. S.H. I. N. G. Got it memorized?"

"Ah. Yeah mom whatever. Hey, are you going out tonight?"

Lea's mother nodded as she began to run a skink of warm soapy water to soak some dishes. "Why?"

" Oh, I was just wandering if I could have a friend over."

"I don't mind. Is it that Medy fellow?

Lea looked down and blushed a bit at the remark.

"Yeah ma. You don't mind do you?

She looked over her shoulder and smiled at her son, dropping the last of the dishes in to the sink to soak, and grabbed a hand rag to dry her hands on. Setting down at the small table with Lea she chose her words with.

"You really have it hard for him don't you?"

Lea looked up with flushed cheeks and sparkling eyes.

"Mom he's so nice…. and fun. I just love being around him."

"Are you sure he is even…. Well you know."

"Mooooom" he fidgeted and looked away. "We are just hanging out tonight. I promise. He wants to have me listen to a new song he's written. Maybe we will watch a movie or something afterwards." He turned back to his mom with pleading eyes. "That's cool. Right?"

"Of course, just be safe. You know he might not react well if he finds out. Then again he might be perfectly fine with it. Just choose your actions wisely. I don't want to come home and find you all bloodied up again."

"Medy is not like that mom, he is really nice. Honest."

"Heh, alright. I will see you tomorrow then okay?" She ruffled up his hair as she got up and reached for her coat.

"Alright. Hey ma, you be careful too K?"

"I will. Bye Lea. Have fun."

"I will. Bye ma!"

With that she was out the door and Lea was left sitting alone in the shabby shack. It only took a few moments of silence before he was at the phone and a ring was in his ear.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

"H-hello?" A shaken voice answered.

"Medy? Are you alright?"

"Oh ah… yeah just swell. Now isn't really the best time to-"

"Would you like to come over? We could watch some movies or something."

A clattering was heard on the other line followed some other un recognizable sounds. Lea frowned as he tried to make them out.

"Actually…. That sounds really nice. When can I come over?"

"Any time is good." More back ground noises came clear as Lea heard some shouting and what seemed to be glass shattering. "Hey Medy, If you want to stay the night don't forget to pack your medication alright?"

"Oh that's right…."

" And I'd love to hear some of your new stuff if you bring your gear."

Medy smiled as he heard the words come through the receiver. "Awwww that's really sweet of you. But you shouldn't have to put up with my 'bizarre noises' as my family calls them."

"Hey I love your stuff. You'll bring it won't you?"

"Of course! Do I go anywhere without my music?

Lea chuckled "I suppose not. See you soon right?"

More clattering was heard "Soon as I can. I have to go get ready."

"Bye then."

"Bye."
