So I had this idea of dialogue after Nick finds out about Jess and Ryan. This might be a bit of a stretch for the characters, especially since Nick and Jess have had no problems being exes all season. So try to see past that, it's just a one shot for now unless I want to continue it in some way. Hope you like :)

Jess leaned her back against her bedroom door, her thoughts swirling in romantic illusions of her and Ryan. She didn't notice Nick walking down the hallway, carrying three empty glasses of sangria from "Guy's Night."

He noticed Jess, who was completely staring off into thin air, twiddling her thumbs on the hem of her green dress.

"I'd offer you this sad little sangria orange, Jess, but you look pretty spaced out in Ryan land to be honest."

She quickly snapped out of her idealistic thoughts, jumping up from her position.

"Hey. Uh, no. No, Ryan and I are just, um exploring things."

Nick raised an eyebrow and smirked at her, as she tripped over her words.

Jess laughed, "Yea, that's a lie. He totally laid one on me. I mean it was like I was standing there – he was standing there. In a parking lot, I was being swept off my feet. I mean I'll never think of parking the same way again. And then, I don't know, he started talking about the holiday – cause that's a British thing you know, and then, man I just really went for it Nick –"

Suddenly, she realized that she was talking to the guy who she had spent the last year with. Not just any year actually, a pretty good one. To make it worse, she was describing a perfect kiss to the guy who had crafted some pretty perfect moments himself.

Jess composed herself and looked swiftly at the ground. "I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm telling you all this – it's not really something you tell your, um, ex boyfriend who you still live with…which is fine, it's fine."

Nick awkwardly shook his head, "No, no of course you can tell me this stuff. Cause, we're friends. See, it's all getting back to normal. I haven't even thought about moonwalking away from you – at all."

Jess smiled, completely aware that Nick was lying because he was swaying from side to side like he couldn't stay still.

"Anyway, it's not like I'm jealous Jess. Cause, I'm going to date people and you're going to date people. Hell, I'm going to bang people."

Jess retaliated, "Ha! You're going to bang people! I might bang Ryan tomorrow! Or the next day! Maybe for two days straight – who knows!"

Nick made a specifically strong turtle face and nodded, "I bet you are. I actually have so many banging plans you wouldn't even believe Jessica. And I'm happy for you, I really am. "

Jess sighed, realizing that the last part of Nick's sentence did actually sound sincere.

"And, hey, you're a lucky girl. You have some pretty epic first kisses, am I RIGHT?"

That caught Jess off guard, and reminded her immediately of the superman kiss that had occurred right where she and Nick were standing. Silence consumed them both, and they stood there not quite knowing where to pick up the conversation.

"NICK I'M DOING IT. THE LAUNDRY IS DONE AND IT'S TWO IN THE MORNING AND I HAVE NEVER FELT MORE ALIVE, " Schmidt's voice echoed from the basement, filling the void between Nick and Jess.

"I, uh, should go help him. You know, check if it, uh, used the right detergent. You gotta be careful with that stuff."

Jess swiftly cut him off, "Goodnight Nick. Good luck with the laundry. And maybe try to sleep off all of that manly sangria."

A bit rough in spots, I know. But I had to make it angsty in some way, of course. As always, thanks for reading, and maybe if you feel like reviewing that would be great :)
