Chapter 1: A Dream or a Beautiful Nightmare?
Sunlight...
Laughter?...
It was a bright summer's day with garden that had flowers in full bloom. A man stood by the window looking outside as he heard the sound of a door opening behind him. He turn to see a beautiful little girl with black, wavy, flowing hair as she ran towards him.
"Daddy!"
The little girl ran into his arms as he scooped her up, taking a good look at her. He gave a smile as he gently brushed away a strand of her hair, to see her heart-shaped, pale face. He glanced to see her green eyes staring back at his as she gave him a youthful smile. The little girl giggled as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
This must be a dream...but a pleasant one it seems...
His smile grew as he walked with his daughter in his arms to the garden to see if the woman that he had loved for so long was there. He opened the door, then he set his daughter down to allow her to run to her mother.
"Mummy! I brought Daddy here."
He averted his eyes from the girl to see...
This must be a mistake...This is wrong!
The girl ran to a slender, petite woman as she turns to look at the girl. The woman picked the girl up and laughed, spoke in a soft, melodic voice. Her hair was a soft warm, brown, almost golden in the sunlight behind her. Her lovely waves went down to her waist as she flickered her eyes up at him.
"Severus..." her voice said in a soft tone.
No!
Severus Snape woke up in the morning as he heard an owl knocking on his window, finally disrupting his nightmare of a dream. He scowled as he got up to open the window, taking the letter around it's leg. He rewarded the owl with a small treat before he sent it away.
Dear Severus,
Meet me there around midnight in my office. The time has come for the new school year at it appears we will have quite a few new students, one in particular I need to speak to you about…
-Albus
He looked at the note and quickly tossed it away. He sent his reply that he would be there by floo before he got up to take a quick shower, and dressed in his usual black robes. He walked out of his room to his office. He sat down while he looked at his desk to see lesson plans for this year.
Nothing but insufferable children!…Need to endure another year.
He stopped in the middle of his thought as he remembered those eyes in his nightmare...That little girl called him daddy in his dream with those beautiful green eyes… He leaned back in his seat while he sighed, going into deep though about his ominous dream.
That child...such a beautiful little girl that looked a bit like me yet...her eyes...She had those wonderful green eyes but that woman...
He jerked up from his seat slightly, sitting up and opens his drawer to take out an old picture of a girl with ginger hair and the most beautiful green eyes he had ever seen in his life. Her smile melted his heart as he caressed the picture and whispers...
"Lily..."
But those green eyes from his dream were not hers. No, the woman's green eyes were not Lily's, they were too green, like an emerald forest with highlights of other green colors. She looked nothing like Lily, never seen her in his life. He shook his head as he looked back at Lily's eyes and whispers
"No...I will only love you...my sweet Lily..."
He knew he would never meet this other woman, as he laughed to himself cynically. He continued to work at his lesson plans until it was almost midnight and got up to head over to the headmaster's office, while he removed the mysterious woman from his mind. As he enters into Dumbledore's office he noticed something a bit strange about the old man. He was pacing as usual but he was staring at a letter as well as an old trunk next to his desk. At first glance it seemed like nothing but Dumbledore's face wasn't in a calm state, but almost questioning.
"Headmaster."
The elderly headmaster of Hogwarts look back at the Potion Master and gave a nod.
"Ah, Severus, thank you for coming in…"
Severus notice Dumbledore put the letter down on his desk, almost pushing it back as if to make sure Severus didn't read it. Instead the Headmaster picked up a list from the desk and handed it over to Severus.
"…It's the list of the new students we will be receiving this year."
The potion master looks back at the old man suspiciously before taking a look at the list. He skimmed through to see a few familiar family names till he read a particular one.
"…He is already of age?"
"Yes…Our time is up, for the boy who lived will finally be coming here."
As Severus spoke to Albus more on the pressing matter, as well as other topics of the future, little does he know that his mysterious woman was on that same list…As a student.
