"You know I thought we agreed that you would actually help with this?" Greer growled at Brenna. Brenna put her phone down and looked at Greer.
"Sorry." This caused Greer to raise her eyebrows.
"That's it? Sorry? No witty remarks, sarcastic retorts?"
"God really? Just leave it alone."
"You know if you have somewhere else you want to be just go." Greer said and Brenna's face fell. "What? Your boyfriend is more important than your school?"
"My sister…" Brenna said and Greer's hard face softened.
"What's going on with your sister?"
"She's having a test done in the hospital today." Brenna got up and moved so she was sitting next to Brenna instead of across from her.
"Ok, what kind of test?"
"I think it's a biopsy? I don't know, we got into this huge fight yesterday." Greer put her arm around Brenna, running her hand up and down the girl's arm.
"What was the fight about?"
"I didn't take the time to go with my mom to a tango class and April was really mad. She has to do everything because I never put an effort in."
"You can change that you know?"
"No I can't, I should have just taken the time and gone to be with my mom."
"Hey look at me." Greer said and waited till her eyes met Brenna's. "You can start putting an effort in. Why don't we push this back till tomorrow and you go meet with your sister, hold her hand through this. She shouldn't have to be alone."
"I'll never get there in time."
"I can drive you."

When Greer got the text that Brenna needed someone to talk to her heart fell, it couldn't be good. She offered to meet up and got in the car to drive to the park knowing that's where the girl would want to meet. She walked quickly to the park bench and saw Brenna sitting there already.
"Hey." Greer smiled.
"Hey." Brenna said back, and started spilling what happened.
"She's really sick." Brenna ended with and Greer's heart broke. Greer wrapped her arms around Brenna and rested her head on top of Brenna's. "Thank you for making me go."
"Don't thank me."
"No really… You helped me put my feelings aside to be there for her." Brenna said pulling back to look Greer in the eye. "You told me I could change and be there, and I was."
"You took the step, I just sort of pushed." Greer smiled and Brenna smiled slightly back.
"Why did you even come? We barely know each other, and I was a complete jerk to you."
"Because sometimes you just have a gut feeling about someone that makes you smile and makes you feel better. That you shouldn't let them go for any reason." Greer smiled at Brenna. "And you make me happy and smile."
"Thank you."
"Though why didn't you ask Kieran to meet with you?"
"Because I couldn't take another philosophical quote or conspiracy theory." Greer's faced scrunched up in confusion. "He… matter of fact it isn't worth explaining. Can we just forget about everything else except you and me? Right here? Right now?"
"That's fine with me." Greer said tightening her grip on the smaller girl.
