Everywhere you looked, there were lamps, candles floated on small bowls in ponds and fountains. Fireflies flew mere feet away from the guests; they seemed to dance in time with the angelic sound of the flutes and harps. People floated from friend to friend, commenting on the perfect night, delicious banquet, and the generosity of the firelord. This was sure to be talked of for weeks.
One girl was not laughing or eating, she stood underneath a beautiful tree, watching Zoin. They were meant to be, destiny decreed that they be together-yes, forever. The only thing to do now was to find a subtle way to tell HIM that. Actually, she'd be pleased if he spoke to her once.
As you can probably tell,Hanzini was a dreamer. Unlike most dreamers, she didn't dream of great adventures. Instead she dreamed of simple, obtainable things, such as a boy of the same rank that she liked liking her back. She didn't do this on purpose, that was just the way she was. And so, she stood under the tree, trying to look pretty and enchanting, hoping she could will Zoin to walk over to her.
For a moment, she thought it was working. One of the boys separated from the group! It was wonderful! It was working! It was...oh, it was her cousin Kiraz. Never mind...
Kiraz was frowning. "Are you all right? You looked so irritated, I had to come over."
Irritated? NOT what she was going for. But Kiraz was sweet to be worried...hm, was anyone else, like maybe Zoin? "I'm fine, thank you. Was anyone else... concerned?"
"No," Kiraz grinned, "don't worry, no one else noticed! I made sure not to embarrass you and told my friends that I needed to ask you something for my mother."
"Oh, thank you" yeah, you've been such a big help. Hanzini smiled and walked to one of the benches near the pond. She was the only one at this particular pond, and it was still enough for he to see her own reflection. Nothing surprised her, Hanzini had a sweet but simple beauty. Normal light brown eyes, brown hair that was neither thin nor think. She was healthy but not especially strong or thin. She was the average height of a 17 year old. In fact, she considered almost everything about her average. She rarely got As and almost never got below a C. She didn't know all the answers to problems but didn't always need someone to protect her. She got along with her family, but it wasn't always perfect. She wasn't Perfection, but she wasn't a Disgrace either. To be brutally honest (because I have been so kind to her thus far), she bored most people.
Everyone knew the nice daughter of Urno and Carza, but no one really cared if she was there or not. She wasn't exactly a little a ball of entertainment.
But soon, that would change.
sooooo... what'd ya think? :D
