Skye grabbed "The 101 Guide of Relationships" at the same time than a tall man with dark hair.
"What are you doing?" she said.
"I thought it was obvious", said the guy, "I'm taking this book."
Skye squinted. She looked at him from head to toes. Hella hot.
"Don't you have an Abercrombie photo shoot in five minutes?" Skye said. "How about you go model and leave me the book."
She pulled it, but he still wouldn't let go.
"Wow", he said, no wonder you want this book so bad. You clearly have really poor relationship skills."
Skye tilt her head.
"It's for a friend", Skye said, still pulling from her side. "Why would you need this book anyway? With a face like that girls probably laughed when you cough."
The guy laughed.
"Indeed they do. Yet you're still not laughing. Actually, you're doing quite the opposite. Do you want me to cough?"
Skye took a step forward, changing strategy.
"Look, Abercrombie", she said, waving her hair and blinking a lot. "How about I take the book?"
"I'm Ward, by the way", the guy answered. "And sure! But then on your way out of the library I'm gonna make sure you run into Fitz and then you're gonna have to explain to him why he didn't get his book."
Skye squinted.
"Or how about I call my friend and you tell her", she said taking her phone out of her pocket with her left hand. "Oh, look I have her on speed dial!"
She put the phone on speaker and gave Ward an arrogant look, like she'd win this already. Ward still looked perfectly comfortable.
"Hello?"
"Hey Simmons!" Skye said. "I'm with this guy at the library and…"
"A guy? Is he hot?"
Ward leaned toward the phone.
"She said I look like an Abercrombie model!" he said.
"Wow, that hot, uh? You should ask Skye out, sir! Skye, I'll have Chinese takeout enjoy supper with your super model!"
"Simmons!" Skye said reproachfully. "What…"
There was a beep and she hung up.
"You know what", Ward said, "you let me have that book and I'll buy you a drink."
He was smirking.
"How about", Skye answered, "you let me have the book and then you buy me a drink."
Ward looked at her for a few seconds, then let go of the book so suddenly that Skye had to take a step backward.
"Fair enough", he said. "Come this way Skye, I know a bar nearby where they don't judge you when you walk in at 3pm. Oh and you'll still have to explain yourself to Fitz."
Skye shook her head, hiding a smile as she followed him.
"What took you so long?" said a guy near the door. "Did you get the book?"
"No. Sadly someone got it before I did. I'm taking her for a drink, now", answered Ward, pointing at Skye.
Fitz looked at her for a few seconds, then back at Ward.
"You're definitely the only person on this planet who can pick up a girl in a library."
