C IS FOR COFFEE
There was a new coffee shop in town. Mocha Mike's was only a coffee and pastry establishment, so it wasn't much competition for Luke; he still provided the town with burgers and fries. Apparently Mike's cherry Danishes were nothing compared to Luke's anyway.
Luke and Lorelai have broken up recently after a very brief courtship, and she's hardly ever around. She drinks her coffee at Mike's now. Luke doesn't know whether the coffee's better there or if Lorelai is just avoiding him.

Today, the bell jingles merrily and in walks Lorelai.
"Hi," she says softly. "Can I have some coffee?"
