It was over for Shawn, the minute he made his announcement at Armageddon the fans started booing him, not caring that he made the decision to survive, to provide for his family.
Shawn walked up that ramp a broken man with the fans screaming after him, he wasn't their hero anymore.
"Sell out! Sell out! SELL OUT!"

Shawn ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, they didn't understand. For eighteen years they never understood.

The next day as Shawn flew home he stared out the window numbly; even his friends weren't talking to him. They were ignoring his calls; they didn't listen when he tried to explain his actions. They saw what he had done as a betrayal.
But they didn't think Shawn heard them whispering behind his back, spreading rumors, calling him a sell out, a backstabber.
Shawn got off the plane in San Antonio and went to the baggage check area.
They had the nerve to call him a backstabber? Shawn had never said a word against any of them, personally or professionally.
