I do not own Amulet. I will update this when I can.
I got off of Enzo's ship and sighed.
"Why're we here again?" Trellis asked, following me.
"If we want to find Emily, then we need a little help." I replied.
"So who is this girl, chief? Your sister?" Enzo walked over to me. Rico followed him, looking around.
I sighed. "Let's just say she's like Selina. Except this girl wants me dead."
Enzo chuckled. "Break a few hearts between fights, Redbeard?"
"Jackie's the only girl I've ever dated. And I'd like to keep it that way." I grumbled. I walked towards a small house and sighed.
"So we're visiting your stupid girlfriend so she can lead us all around Alledia only to find Emily dead?" Trellis cried. "We might as well go to Gulfen and watch my dad kill her!"
I glared back at him. "Look, Trellis. Jackie is a Stonekeeper and can track anyone. I should know. She followed me everywhere trying to decapitate me. If you don't want to find Emily, you go back to Gulfen."
Trellis returned the glare, then looked away.
"That's what I thought." I growled. I continued walking towards the house.
"What did you do that was so bad, Leon?" Rico asked.
"That's personal." I mumbled. When we reached the house, I knocked on the door. I was greeted by a knife being held to my throat.
"Ah yes. Leon Redbeard. Long time no see, eh?" Jackie grinned. Like me, she was a fox. Except she was an Arctic fox, so her fur was completely white.
I snatched the knife from her and tossed it aside. "Hi, Jackie. Listen, I need to ask you a favor."
"A favor?" She snorted. "I don't owe you anything, sweetheart."
"I know, Jackie. But-" Before I could finish, Jackie punched me right in the gut. I gasped and doubled over, wheezing. When I looked back up, Jackie had my sword.
"Nice sword. But I have knives sharper than this." Jackie smirked.
"I'm sure you do." I wheezed and snatched it back. "Jackie, a friend of mine has disappeared. She's a Stonekeeper like you. I need your help to track her."
"She? Is she a girlfriend?" Jackie snarled.
Trellis groaned. "We're gonna be here all night doing this."
Ignoring him, I replied. "She's the Stonekeeper Emily Hayes."
After a few moments of silence, Jackie started laughing. "I get it now! You're her little sidekick! How cute. The "fox-human warrior" is now the puny little sidekick to the little girl with a glowing necklace." She turned around. "I love it. it's brilliant." She continued laughing.
I sighed. "Jackie, please. I'm desperate right now."
Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you, now?"
Trellis pushed past me and glared down at Jackie. "Listen-"
He was interrupted by a knife being stabbed at his throat. He backed away quickly.
"What's wrong with you?!" He cried.
"You're the son of the Elf King. That evil tyrant deserves to die and so do you!" Jackie snarled and threw another knife at Trellis.
"Jackie, calm down." I grabbed her wrist. "He's not gonna hurt you." I looked back at the elf prince. "Right, Trellis?"
"Fine." Trellis mumbled.
Jackie growled. "Okay, fine, then."
