Harry tied the handle of his bedroom under the stairs shut as tightly as possible as he hid inside. Dudley was kicking the door and screaming.
"MUM! Harry's stealing my toys again! It's my favourite one and its really unfair."
Harry sighed. Dudley had asked if Harry would like a toy car to play with and Harry had taken one, daring to believe that Dudley had tried to be nice. It was now clear that Dudley had only offered it knowing Harry would take it so he could accuse Harry of stealing it. It was so unfair!
Since his uncle and aunt had taken him in 6 years ago after the car accident Harry had never felt appreciated, only tolerated. Dudley seemed to have made it his life's ambition to make Harry's life hell, even at his current age of 7 Dudley had learnt enough skills from his boxing club to seriously hurt Harry. This meant Harry tried whenever possible to avoid Dudley, especially when Dudley hadn't tormented him recently. Dudley seemed to have the idea stuck in his head that Harry needed bullying at least once every day to remind Harry who was in charge.
As Dudley kept screaming, tears threatening to make an appearance, Harry stared sadly at the toy car. It wasn't one of Dudley's favourites, it had originally been Harry's that he had bought at a fair when Mrs Figg had been at the vets with her cats, so was unable to babysit. It had come from a second hand stall and Harry had only had 20p that he had found on the floor. The Dursleys had though Harry too unimportant to waste money on. The car was labelled as costing 50p but the shop keeper had taken pity on him and only charged Harry the 20p he had. Harry smiled at the memory, he had enjoyed that day, it seemed like one day he'd had that he could talk about with his friends at school, he'd felt important and not as if he was something that should be locked away and hidden.
As Harry heard aunt Petunia coming he reluctantly untied the string that was locking him safely inside his room knowing an argument was coming if he didn't come out soon. Under the icy glare of his aunt Harry unwillingly handed the car slowly back to his cousin. A smug smile fixed on Dudley's face, taunting Harry as Dudley knew he had won.
Life is so unfair.
