Final Moment
The marine had run for miles before he finally fell to the
ground, exausted. He held his weapon up weakly at the advancing flood
and pulled the trigger, only to hear the dry click of a spent round.
He frowned then pulled it again, the same dry click answered him.
"Great."
He muttered to himself.
"Out
of ammo..."
He dropped his gun and lowerd his head and
closed his eyes. He thought of his family and friends, his mission,
his purpose.
His squad had been dispached here to ambush a
small group of covenant that were escorting prisoners. The objective
was of course to kill all the enemys and bring the goodguys home. But
enroute his squad was ambushed by some sort of creatures. They faught
back but there never seemed to be an end to them, they just kept
coming, wave after wave of mutated flesh untill finally he was the
only one left.
Now it seemed he would die here, alone and
afraid on this godforsaken ring in the middle of space. He looked up
again at the foul creatures slowly surounding him and spoke.
"No!
I won't be one of you!"
He said unsteadily. He fumbled
around in his pack untill he found what he was looking for....A
detonator and explosives. He quickly set the bombs and redied the
detonator as they closed in on him. The explosion would kill
everything in twohundred metters if he did it right. He layed down as
the flood began to crawl on him, digging thier tenticles into him. He
yelled in pain but did not waver. He held up the device in his hand,
the small red button gleaming softly in the moonlight. He closed his
eye, a single tear rolling down his cheek while he said his last
words and pressed the button.
"I'm sorry mom...Goodbye"
